Gang,

I heard from cwru70 that Case plans on re-starting its cross-town rivalry with JCU on September 4, 2010.

CWRU will probably be having a rebuilding season that year, with Dan Whalen having graduated.  What do JCU's prospects look like for '10?

Perhaps we could call this the "Don Shula Bowl."  Shula did his undergrad at JCU, and his graduate work at Western Reserve.

Which of Shula's alma maters will prevail?

MajorSpartan

There's not a whole lot of representation on this board when it comes to JCU.  There have been some great supporters over the years (4u, Toph, etc.) and some STELLAR ones (doeder, derdoe) but even while a couple of them lurk I don't know if they are close enough to the program today to tell you what JCU will look like in 2009, let alone 2010.

I could care less what cheesy adjectives are being used to describe that list.  Three of the four on the list are described as ALL-STATE and one was lineman of the year in the GBC so that is fine by me.  If 75% of all recruiting lists was filled with that calbier of kid, then they could list them as "splenderific", "magnitastic" or any other made-up word they see fit!

(I get the OCF updates too.)

I prefer majestic.

DP can recruit... and is also an excellent game day coach.  I look for ONU to turn some heads in 2009.  With all the injuries healed -- this will be a team with experienced 1s and 2s.... the depth needed to compete in the OAC.

I'll take JCU -13.5 for a C-Note on this one... especially with Whalen leaving --  13.5 may not be enough.

*Note -- I didn't consult with hscoach on this before my post

Other random Monday thoughts:

*if you kick puppies -- you're a badarse
*MUC punter -- easiest job in sports today?
*Why Manny, why?
*Lenny Reich is a helluva SID -- look at these reports on their recruits.  Things are done at a high level at MUC and he fits in nicely.
*Early 2009 prediction -- Wabash vs MUC in Regional Finals or National Semifinals
*Thomas More at JCU in week 1 -- hopefully its a track meet.
*Indy 500 -- Danica will crash within the first 50 laps and blame it on someone else.
*Kickers tackling AFTER an XP -- not good.
*Jeremy Mayfield NASCAR Suspension -- if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around does it make a sound?
*Cincy Reds Pitching Staff -- best in baseball from top to bottom?
*North Park -- 10-0 in 2008, Preseason Top 5 in 2009 and loses their Offensive Coordinator to Wheaton?

Saintsfan:  Please tell me you aren't trying to move in on my action?  Though I'm a Kraut, I have some fine Italian cousins from Youngstown that wouldn't take kindly to your knees if they found out someone from outside the family was undercutting my business.... >:(

That said, your spread looks about right.  Maybe a bit too high?  Even though JCU is a middle of the road OAC team, their speed on defense would cause some major issues for breaking in a new QB.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

No sir!  Just trying to establish some credibility here for my OAC Picks in the Fall.  My stellar record in previous years makes this necessary!

What did Manny do?  It was his Dr.'s fault!  He shouldn't have to ask what kind of drugs he's getting, he should just assume it is ok.   ;)

For gosh sakes, so Manny's female hormones are running a little high....big deal. If he can play with the sore nipples..I say let em!  ::)  He shoulda used Enzite like Bob on TV. Poor Manny, Hes gonna lose more money before July 4th than I will EVER make.

Heard Greg wasn't at graduation. Surprised to hear that due to his academic career. Is this tied to football at all?

His suspension probably cost him more than I've made in my lifetime in the first couple days.
This bids another question:  What happens to the money the Dodgers don't ay  him?  Does the club get to keep it?  Does it go to the league toward charity or the union for pensions?
My Monday muse.

SaintsFan    The record/ranking you cite for North Park are those of North Central, another CCIW team.  North Park, whose OC Wheaton hired, was 1-9 each of the last two seaasons.

You're right...  thanks, cwru70.  I should've known better... North Central ended Thomas More's season this past November.

SBS--

I'm almost 100% sure that portion of his salary stays with the team -- they just dont' pay it.  If the Dodgers were giving the money to charity, they'd have made a huge announcement about it.  This little goof up cost Manny (and more importantly, Scott Boras) $7M.  Boras loses $350,000 in commission from this because he didn't watch his guy so closely.

The Boras part is especially funny because there's an article in a Men's Magazine (either GQ or Mens Health--I can't remember) where he talks about being really involved with the athlete's training regimen at his new gym in California.

Obviously, I think Scott Boras has tried to ruin baseball for his own greed.  As much as I love the Dodgers and was glad last year they got Manny, Boras had his client intentionally blow up the Red Sox team so he could get a trade.  See Boras wasn't making any money on the old deal Manny had signed and thought a huge payday was coming....

anyways, sorry for the non-football talk.  but it is May.

hscoach,

You should bring the fam down to the "Battle of Ohio"... Indians vs. Reds later this month.  They are in town on May 22-24

LK for coach of the year....................again. :o

I didn't think it would happen so soon......LK is coach of the year again. He was awarded the Lee Tressel Award as coach of the year. The award is being presented by Jim Tressel. Maybe he will ask LK if he wants to switch jobs. ;D
Or maybe a few pointers. Or maybe if LK can spare him a kicker next year ;)

Also Chas Yoder is receiving a post grad scholarship for $2000.

Congratulations to another outstanding, spendiforous (couldn't resist RC) performance by these Raiders
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I'll be there with my Family.  Wife bought me tix for my birthday (May 23rd).  We're parking over by the Hofbrauhaus (might enjoy a few fine german beverages beforehand) and walking over the purple people bridge to the game.  Couple of the wife's cousins will be there as well (although I don't think Ceplauch will be one of them).

Yep--according to people who know (LK) he was in California for a tryout with the CFL.
