You can stick a fork in the Otterbein Cardinals.  Looking more and more like Rafferty isn't returning.

The Stark Co. East West All Star game is this Sat. at Fawcett. 3 Mount players on East and 1 on west. A few other players going to OAC schools on both teams. The QB from Louisville will start for the East. Surprising but not 1 future Mount kicker in the game.  :o The price is right $7.00 at the gate. You have to like that 70's.

Got my tickets   ;D

So you got em for 6 bucks each.  ;D

If you think an "M" on your hat is bad if you travel back in the archivies you will find that for some reason when I attended Mount our letter jackets were blue wool with maize leather sleeves sporting a big M on the chest. ??? Try  wearing that in Columbus to an OSU game and survive! I did, but it was shaky. So be glad we finally got away from those colors from the team up north. :P

I can say I have never witnessed anyone from the state up north being harmed at an OSU game. I have seen a car or two with Michigan plates flipped over on their top back in the day.   :-\

Reporting in from Baltimore.  Jr. is holding his own, but having to play up with the older kids has been an adjustment.  The coaches monitor his interaction with the bigger/older kids, but yesterday when the scrimmage went "live" he happened to be in a running back.  Darn if he didn't break an off-tackle play out and gain about 12.  He told me later that fear is a great thing to increase your burst speed!   :D  He hit this sophmore wide-receiver running a slant rather solidly.  Got oohs and aahs from the coaches.  One more day of practices (3 times a day!), and then it's the big game tomorrow and we head home.

Oh..got a chance to meet Mel Kiper Jr.  He was watching a baseball game on campus, and walked over to the camp.  He spent about 15 minutes talking to the kids, and I thought he was very gracious and interesting.  The fullback from the Ravens will be at the camp today to sign autographs, etc...  Jr. said he didn't care if he got his autograph or not.  I told him GOOD ANSWER!

HS,

What's happening with Rafferty? My Bison have the Cardinals on opening day.

Got married in the off season and doesn't want to pay for a second year of grad school.  Basically he has just moved on with adult life.

I've got $5 riding on him regretting that decision once he realizes that real life SUCKS! ;)

After years of coach's hats with a Green M (Mogadore) and alumni/fan hats with white or purple M (Mount), Michigan really never crosses my mind. You pretty safe anywhere in Stark, Portage or Summit counties. :D

How good is the new QB or has a definite starter not been named at the great Mt Union? What about running back, any of you guys got the scoop?

Who are the Big New Names, not the preseason All Americans, the guys who year in and year out emerge out of nowhere?

I guess we've settled for the fact that these questions are answered on the practice field and later in Larry's head, but pretty much we'll know on a Saturday in upstate NY. We've got some good hunches about RB but until he takes the field it's anybody's guess. I'll be joining the other old men along the fence in a matter of weeks so that we can start to speculate, but we may have not seen the new QB. I doubt we go with a freshman though. (or even a transfer) 8)

Wait a couple weeks and you'll be able to read the '09 Mount Union season preview here:

Editor review?  OK, that might be over stating it a bit.

It's written and waiting for The Ric to get off his lazy butt to fix my spelling errors before it's uploaded.  ;D

hscoach, seventies, Pat Coleman and reality check:

Thanks for the thoughts on the situation.  Everything is gonna be fine.  I'm gonna move to Phoenix to be the "tee-getter" as RC so graciously offered!!

Everything will be fine.  Got something in mind already, which may actually take me to Phoenix for part of the year.  That will make my college gf pretty happy (she lives in Tempe).

Or is d3football hiring sales reps?
