Dr. Acula

Not sure how many of you guys use Twitter, but a buddy of mine was telling me MUC SID Lenny Reich does a nice job of posting links to articles, updates, etc. regularly.  I checked it out and there's some good stuff on there.

MUC on Twitter

First time I ever saw my Congrats for being the 150th follower on Twitter. I may be old, but I was a computer teacher.

Do any of you fellas know where I can buy some of the rubber boards that schools use for offensive line work. I have been using regular 1x6's but it rains so much down here that they end up getting warped and my school has to rebuy more. We used them at Mount, but I cant seem to find them online anywhere. I thought one of you might know. Thanks for the help.

I priced them with several vendors when ordering new linemen chutes this spring.  We decided against buying them at this time, but Wolverine Sporting Goods had the best price and a variety of options.  Personally, my preference is 2" x 10"s.  I also watered them down before using them (if they weren't already soaked) to make them more slippery.  I found the dry boards caused some ankle sprains and the more slippery the boards were injuries decreased and the effect was better.  I may be a bit too old school sadist for some modern equipment.

Hence the need to spend your evening in A-town with bunch of old, fat guys talking football.

It was a nice break from dealing with the whiney bishes that I usually surround myself with... "My drink doesn't have enough ice"...  ;)

We used 2x10's too.  Nothing like a little "board time" to get the juices flowing at the start of practice.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

A little more love for MUC (as if they needed it)......nice to see some national recognition for D-III.

Running a wood rasp down the edges of the 2" X 10"s eliminates sharp corners and 2-3 coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane eliminates any possibility of traction while increasing longevity. I have found the end results to be worth the additional expense/effort.

RC, you'll be interested in this article.  This fight is near Cincinnati this Saturday at Belterra Casino.

Its a great article on former Thomas More player and Coach, Chris Wells.

was very saddened to see, on the Mount Union twitter page, the story of the death of former Raider basketballer Mike Gerber.  Really a shame, a great guy and superb player,  I think his son led high school to state tourney a couple seasons ago...
treasure your time guys....

Yikes, I scouted him for Coach Parsons for extra credit in his Basketball Coaching class. Learned a lot about small central Ohio high schools. (or at least how to find them on dark winter nights)

Cool story on Wells.  You don't think about him being short or an "undersized LB" when he's in the locker room bashing his head through lockers to get a bunch of kids he's never met before fired up for their game against Hamilton-Badin.

Hope he does well this weekend.

Ohio College Football a publication dedicated to only Ohio Football has released their "Great 8", which is their preseason picks of the top players in Ohio College Football. On that list are James Herbert and Cecil Shorts III from Mount. Dan Whalen from Case Western Reserve is the only other D3 athlete on  the list. ;)

Hamilton High won't play Badin.  They have nothing to gain by doing it.  Win and they were supposed to win, lose and they are schmucks.  Hamilton is the biggest HS in Ohio, I've heard...

We had to settle for scrimmages when I was at BHS.  And we beat them pretty handily.

Got to do some research. I thought Mentor was the biggest HS. Wikipedia says Oak Hills

If you believe the Ohio High School Athletic Association, which goes by 10-12 from almost a year and half ago, it's Mentor hands down. I don't know any other reliable source. Notice, I excluded the ODE by qualifying "Reliable." ;)
