Actually, if you look at boy's enrollment, which determines football classification, Fairfield H.S. in Butler County is the largest high school in Ohio with 1227 boys.  Next is St. X in Cincy (1171), Mason High in Northern Cincy (1079), and St. Iggy in Cleveland at 1072.  Hamilton comes in at 1003......how many are actually eligible is another matter. ;)

Seventies, why all the hate for ODE??  Surely the check from STRS on the 1st softens the pain??

OK, I stand corrected.  10th largest in Ohio, then.  I lived in Fairfield when I went to Badin.  Their HS looks like a prison from Ohio Route 4.  Seriously

Would agree on the "prison" look of Fairfield.......certainly not a great first impression when driving by.  I heard the windows were made really small to keep the kids from escaping during the day (or maybe the staff).

My in-laws live in Fairfield Twp.  Wife went to Badin, but her mom taught in the Fairfield district for years.  Lots of problems other than just an ugly high school.

Of course, Badin is having its own issues.  Decreasing enrollment, increase in tuition, increase in disciplinary actions, decrease in Alumni support.  I heard talk a few years ago that the Board/ Diocese actually was looking into building a new Badin out in the Union Centre area to lure more kids from the Lakota schools, much like Fenwick did in ditching Middletown proper and moving out by I-75 so more kids from West Chester and Dayton could get there more easily.

Apparently the Hamilton, Fairfield, Ross, and Talawanda kids and their families just can't bring the money like the Lakota folks.

Of course, even if they did move, would the kids at Lakota East or West come?  Apparently Lakota is a higher rated school than Badin.  So, why pay money to go to a lesser school?

Hamilton High... wow!  Not a nice place either.

The head-bashing against the lockers was when Wells came to speak to my senior class as we played Badin at Hamilton HS in 1998.  He was Coach Place's "guest motivational speaker" and when he put a dent into the face of those athletic lockers and had blood gushing from his forehead, I was motivated....to get out of the room for my own safety.

Nice, reality.  In 1997, 17 starters were suspended at Thomas More BC they got caught drinking on a Thursday night by him.  The next day in a meeting about it, he ripped his shirt off and went off.  The players seated directly in front of him were scared.  What set him off?  Our LB saying that it wasn't fair and they were punishing the whole team.

And no, before you imply... I was NOT involved and made my first collegiate start that game as a Sophomore, as a result.  We still won despite losing all those upperclasaman only because we played Bluffton

Small but Slow

CW's rants seem more effective than one my HS coaches who played at Northwestern during their legendary losing streaks.  We were playing the defending state champs at their place and he told us about how his team got fired up to play OSU at the horseshoe as 50 point underdogs.  They trashed the visitor lockerroom before kickoff, which he led us to do.  On the way to the field I asked him how bad they beat the Buckeyes that day.  At this point he told me their strategy backfired and they got beat 63-0.  Fortunately, it worked much better for us.  We only got beat 58-0.

If anyone has a XBOX 360 OR PS3, YOU CAN DOWNLOAD D3 FOOTBALL TEAMS WITH THEIR NAME.  CNU 2008 BEAT MT. UNION 2008 33-31.

Somebody called OGUN2K put this post on the USA South board and I thought perhaps some among you might be inclined to respond.
(I haven't figured out the quoting from board to board thing yet, so I apologize for this format.)

That's too funny.

They broke one of those long losing streaks against NIU when my Dad coached there.  Tore down the goal posts, carried them out of the stadium and dumped them in Lake Michigan.
