Does anyone think we could see a rotation system at RB like back in the Lantos/Gorius/Evans era?  Maybe we could see something similar w/ Morring/Panchik/Urbania?  I know Thomas is still there as well, and there was a young kid last year too (Harris?) so they seem to have a lot of depth.

Depth has not been a problem since 1993--I remember rotating two freshman quarterbacks and still having a heck of a year!
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

Good point, prof.  When speaking of depth it's all relative I suppose.  Half the conference would love to have any one of those guys.

Do you mean 1994?  Fall of 1993 was the first National Championship with Ballard at QB.

"For the first time since 2006, there are no Mount Union quarterbacks on the preseason All-American team. Unless that quarterback is last year's receiver." by our fearless leader from the front page.

No running back or o-line either. I guess the defense is going to have to pitch a few shut outs! ;)

As speculated if Cecil Shorts III is the QB would that have changed anything on that list?

Also if Troney Shumpert has to be on the list at least he is on the second team after he was schooled in the Stagg last year. ::)

In Shumpert's defense...I don't think there's a corner in DIII that can keep up with Shorts one on one.

You are right on that one. Cecil has some speed - can't wait to see it at the next level!

The question this year is whether MUC has a quarterback that can throw it as far (and fast) as Cecil can run......

I have from a pretty reliable source we are going to have a new Cheetah formation... Cecil Shorts III will be the QB and he will be throwing way down field to our equally speed receiver Cecil Shorts III. ??? ??? The defense doesn't stand a chance. Just the old pitch and catch... :o

First off...who cares whether MUC has one, two or ten preseason All Americans....when the season plays out, adjustments can be made...I will take the 'ships versus All Americans...
secondly, does anyone know what time the 7 on 7's are at MUC, I would like to take a look...
Finally, any idea why Thomas has not figured more  prominently in the Offense?  He is an OAC sprint champion...

I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the Raiders typically have a little depth at the running back position (although Im not positive)

Terrance will get his opportunity to carry the ball, Coach Kehres is a very loyal person and has respect for players that work hard to regain the ability they had stripped of them due to injury.

Interesting about this freshmen tailback though, first I have heard of him. Anyone have any numbers for me? Ht Wt 40?

Those are some pretty impressive numbers particularly if that 40 time is electronic.

Food for thought...

Ben Johnson, who is believed to have run 40 yards faster than any human in history. Johnson is best known for injecting copious amounts of steroids and winning the 100 meters at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul in 9.79 seconds, only to have his gold medal and world record stripped after failing a post-race drug test.

Timing officials have since broken down that famed race into 10-meter increments, and Johnson was so preposterously fast that he went through 50 meters in 5.52 seconds and 60 meters in 6.37 – both under the current world records at those distances. He went through 40 yar ds that day in 4.38 seconds.

Sorry if I seem a little skeptical on any sub 4.5 40 time. Have heard way to many sub 4.4 40's coming out of so called summer camps at a D1 University in Akron. Have a hard time believing the system was set up correctly or the thing was calibrated properly

I see a baby bulls backfield behind another ferocious offensive line running the ball and making the new QB comfortable.  LK will not expect Rocco to be Bill Borchert or Greg .  He wont have to be.  Mooring is a big back who loves to hit and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Cecil will be everywhere.

Small but Slow

40 yard dash times are often misleading stats, especially for RB's since they rarely get to take off and run in a straight line.  I've seen many fast guys who look great in sprints and drills who can't cut as well when facing a live defense.  Other factors, such as vision and ability to correctly read blocks then cut at full speed come into effect.  Size and strength are good qualities that sometimes don't even equate to a great ball carrier.  There are many intangibles that make up a good back.  I still expect a returning back with knowledge of the offense and experience in the system to step up and lead for at least a large part of the regular season.

A scout's device in arriving at an approximate electronic 40 time out of an actual hand-held 40 time is to add .25 seconds to the actual hand-held time.
