Fighting Muskies set to rocket to top of OAC

I don't make this stuff up ::)

Everybody's undefeated right now.....when your first three league games are Ott., MUC, and ONU, you better be optimistic and sell the tickets today!

First sentence in the article tones it down a bit:
"The Muskingum football team will look to continue its climb toward the top half of the Ohio Athletic Conference as they get ready to take the field."
Heck, you have to have goals.  Go Muskies!  Win one for the Glenner.

The best part of the article is the comment posted at the bottom: "Good luck Muskies. But as long as Larry Kehres and Mount Union exists, ain't nobody rocketing to the top of the OAC. I do love preseason optimism, however."

Sounds like Rafferty is coming back according to Joe Loth.

I think to be a team other than MUC in the OAC you have to have a certain level of denial and unrealistic hopefulness or else I think morale would be really low  ;) :D

Dean Paul was last to present this morning and noted that nobody ever gets up and says "We're not very good this year"

To confim the Twits, Coach Loth did say that Rafferty has decided to play again this year despite working 40 hours a week, going to grad school and having gotten married in the off season.

A recurring theme among most the coaches that presented today was: parity. The fact that there are teams bunched up in middle of the league standings means the conference is getting more competitive, not less. Look at the out of conference games and the seasons those teams had.

Before I rank on Muskingum again, I need to recount the number of freshman they claim are reporting. (88)

"if it's best for the team, I'll play QB, or if it's best for the team, I'll play receiver."

The only suspense in the OAC preseason polls over: Larry voted for Otterbein.

Both the coaches and media polls are up on Muc.edu, thanks Lenny

If Rafferty is back, that's proabably not a bad vote.

The consensus here is Ott, BW, ONU, JCU and Cap are all pretty even right now based on what they have coming back, and based on the polls from media day, it seems the coaches and media agree.

What is interesting is that there seems to be some discrepancy with 3-5.  You know most years the preseason polls might have a team at 2 in the media and 3 in the coaches or some other slight variation, but usually they are pretty consistent with each other.  Not this year... going back to what I said above about those 5 teams.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Good news for the Raiders.  They're going to need tested before the playoffs ;D
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.
