Garcon listed as #2 receiver on Colts depth chart today, Roy Hall (#3) goes on IR

Looking forward to the next couple of weeks when "kid from Florida", "kid from Louisville" all have names we recognize. The journey starts again next week. 200 and some undefeated DIII schools hit camp. Got invites to JCU, Theil, and Musky JV games from kids I coached. Makes having nothing to do sound a lot better. (Got one playing NAIA in Kansas, only if I can pool my airline miles)

I think Garcon is #2 at one of the WR positions, given there are two WR positions on the field. meaning he's probably manning's third option behind Wayne and Gonzalez. There a lot of WRs out there in the draft to take before selecting a 3rd option WR. Nothing against Garcon. however, Stokely a few years back did darn good as a 3rd WR behind Wayne and Harrison..so you never know.

However, if he was on my Chicago Bears, we would probably be higher on the depth chart. Possibly compete with Hester for the #1 spot.   ;)

Mr. Ypsi

I wonder how many former d3 players saw their careers end with the collapse of the Arena Football League?

SI this week had a nice recap of the situation, focusing on Ott grad (and two-time Arena Bowl MVP) Matt D'Orazio.

Roy Hall was actually waived....and Anthony Gonzalez is out for the pre-season opener against the Vikings, so I would bet that Pierre will start tonight along side Reggie Wayne and get some decent minutes

I still enjoy a chilled bottle of M/D with a fine meal of grilled cheese or mac & cheese occasionally.  Ohio State will always be the prime college football program in the state.  MUC played Dayton in the first round of the playoffs in '86 the same day of OSU - Michigan.  Many Mount fans who travelled to the game brought radios or small tvs to follow the game.  Name recognition is a large factor.  Cincy played in a BCS bowl last year, yet most Ohioans were probably much more interested in OSU-Texas.  For whatever reason there is deep rooted feelings that the Buckeyes are Ohio's lone representative in NCAA football.  Even though I never attended OSU, I still watch them on tv when possible and hope they do well.  As an MUC grad I have a vested rooting interest in the Raiders and have travelled to see them play as often as possible. OSU's enrollment dwarfs the combined enrollment of all OAC schools combined, therefore interest and viewership will remain grerater.

you know what REALLY, REALLY bothers me is that Ohio State WILL NOT come back down to Cincinnati.... remember the 2003 game when Guidugli should've beaten Ohio State??  Well it seems Ohio State is tucking their tail and running.

Then they wonder why they let their fans down in January each year.... its because of the damn money-guarantee games that give them 8 home games.  OK so they play USC on September 12th... besides Penn State, where are they gonna get tested??

Don't blame it on the warm weather teams not wanting to come north and play in the cold.... its because the team doesn't get tested until they play in January.

Sorry for the rant.

What does everyone think about the Michael Vick thing with the Eagles?  in short, he deserves a 2nd chance.  Thats what America is built on.  I have acquaintances (mostly females) who are saying that he's only allowed back in the NFL because he's black.  BS  --- people are idiots (even if they are easy on the eyes), the guy paid dearly for his mistakes (and everyone makes mistakes) and now its time for redemption.

Wait and see what the Humane Society says today at the presser in Philly.

Ugh. Vick deserves a second chance? Laughable.  What did he do to deserve it? He served his time, but what does that show? Screw Vick. I actually wish they would put him in a cage with wild animals. After that, I'd say he earned it.  How can someone intelligently say that he deserves a second chance? Give me a break.

Cincinnati as a test? I guess I just don't agree with anything in your post.  The Big East is more of a joke than the Big Ten.  I love when the Bucks get pounded in January.  It shuts up the obnoxious fans for about a month.

Re-reading this post, I don't mean to come off as mean at all.  I realize it seems that way. I think the Vick situation is just a hot button issue.  Either way, I could care less if Vick was playing in the NFL or living on the streets.

Small but Slow

I'm not an OSU apologist by any means, but at least Tressel schedules Ohio schools, at least those he should beat easily.  OSU probably agreed to play at Cincy partly as an opportunity for SW OH fans a chance to see OSU in person, as well as a favor to D'Onnofrio (sp?). It damn near basckfired so I wouldn't expect to see the Bucks travel to any Ohio school in the future.  Wasn't that game played at Paul Brown Stadium?  No other Ohio school has access to a facility large enough to host the event.  In '86 OSU played at Ohio U. in the first round of the NIT basketball tourney.  I had the pleasure of attending that game in Athens where nearly 14,000 packed the Convo in hopes of seeing another state school beat the Buckeyes.  OSU won the game, but to my best knowledge it was the last time an OH team hosted OSU in one of the two major sports until '06 at Cincy.

It is all about money for DI teams.  The payday for MAC schools travelling to the shoe makes it worth the imminent defeat they face.  The Bucks have been relatively kind to state schools travelling to Columbus.  Either lack of firepower or a short leash has kept OSU from humiliating in state teams.  I watched OU when they played in Gainesville a few years ago, and the Gators were not nearly as hospitable.

As for Vick, what he did was heinous, but the NFL has plenty of players who have displayed disregard for humans.  I grew up in a region where dog and cock fighting is as acceptable as football or baseball.  Vick should have had the good sense to step away from it, but lacked strength. Perhaps he has learned his lesson and can provide a lesson for young people to be strong and distance themselves from unsavory activities.  I have my reservations that this will actually occur.

In an effort to be completely accurate, Roy Hall was placed on the Injured-Waived list which means that he has the opportunity to be picked up by another team but if he is unclaimed, he reverts to the Colts' Injured Reserve list.  So you were both half right.

Prior to the game, the Colts website had Pierre listed as the #2WR behind Wayne.  Gonzalez was listed as the #1 WR on the other side.  So that would make Pierre most likely the #3 WR in 3WR sets.  With Gonzalez sitting out, I assume that would make him the unofficial #2 WR on the first team.

He also only caught 1 ball for 5 yards.  I didn't see the game to see how much PT he actually received.  He had 0 Kick/Punt returns and no ST Tackles.

You're right... my post doesn't make sense about UC and Ohio State.  I don't think UC would be a "better test" than anyone on their schedule and didn't mean to make it sound like they would be.
I'm just tired of seeing Ohio State get these guarantee games.  I'm with you though, I love watching them get stomped in big games.

I won't touch your Vick thoughts... just to keep the sanity of the people on this board. ;D

MUC players arrived on campus this morning.  Many of them did not know that this is Carnation Festival week and State Street and Union Ave were blocked off for the "big" parade.  Apparently some of the parents weren't too thrilled.  I think they should have just joined in the parade and had a good time.
