MUC players arrived on campus this morning.  Many of them did not know that this is Carnation Festival week and State Street and Union Ave were blocked off for the "big" parade.  Apparently some of the parents weren't too thrilled.  I think they should have just joined in the parade and had a good time.
Time for them to discover Rockhill. Union Ave is way too depressing

I think I just wrapped up my contribution to D3Football's Kickoff 2009.  I just have to touch base with coaches one more time at the end of their camps.  I think I might have my portion of this thing streamlined in another 10-12 years if I'm lucky.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Small but Slow

On the Colts highlights today Garcon can be seen making some nice downfield blocks. If he was in Pittsburgh or Minnesota that might secure him a starting job.  Indy is a passing offense so he'd better start getting some looks or he won't be there long.  Gonzalez didn't see the ball much until after the Colts had clinched his rookie year so Pierre just needs to bide his time and earn Manning's vonfidence.

Preseason NFL sucks!   Can't believe we're teased with it.  Pro football is pretty emotionless any time.  Preseason is even worse!  Its hard to believe the general public would rather watch this than d3.  The American public is sheep led around by the major media.

Seventies,
We dropped off our freshman TB, found Rockhill, thanks to Coach Casco, and made a clean getaway.  The parade looked great from McCready Hall.
Casco said @ 120 Freshmen, 15-20 TB's.  Is that par for the course?

Very par for the course.  I said a few pages ago I came in with 17 or so WR's as a freshman and graduated with 2 plus me.  I'd even venture to guess that the 15-20 will be about 12-16 or even less once school starts.

drt- welcome to the OAC board!

MUC has brought in high freshman numbers for quite a while now.  I wish your son success in the highly competitive environment.  Surviving the first year is a challenge.  Your son will be challenged daily.  There will likely be days where he will feel lost in the shuffle.  Staying healthy and dressing for practice each day is a good start.  He will need to be ready to show his stuff every time he's given a chance.   To an extent, freshman year is a battle of attrition.  If he has the talent and is ready each time his number is called he will get his chances.  I look forward to learning of his progress.

DRT - welcome aboard and good luck to your son!
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

For all you Terry Pluto fans, here's his preseason take on the Raiders: (Thanks Reeves)

Cecil Shorts may prove to be the big key to another title contending season at Mount Union

I mentioned the Sutton boys from Akron Hoban last week. Younger brother Tyrell Sutton (Northwestern) had 91 yards rushing against da Browns

Jamal Robertson was shut down on the ground but had 70 receiving yards last night in Toronto's loss to BC.  He is 4th in the CFL in rushing and is sitting on 455 yards as well as a team high 23 catches for 250 yards.  He had a solid campaign in 2008 (645 yards rushing, 5.5 YPC, 6 TD, 27 catches for 271 yards) but through seven games in 2009 he's on pace for 1100 yards, 8 TD, 60 catches for 642 yards).  I hope he keeps up the pace because that would be a pretty solid season for any back in the CFL.

Congrats to Dom Capers, the new DC for Green Bay for making the Browns look, well, like the Browns

+K for having a Raider in the family.  Maybe we can get you in the positive.  :)

Thanks.  The Wooster and  Wabash faithful beat me up pretty badly over my "old-fashioned values" of respect for my rivals and tradition.  I sense a different, more mature attitude on this board.  Very welcome, in my humble opinion.

Dr. Acula

Welcome drt!  Enjoy your son's first season in Alliance.  +k.
