Hurf:  Absolutely.  Catching MUC on Thursday and starting the HS season on Friday.  Yeah, football is here!

Blanchard story out of Warhawkfootball.com. I know this topic has already been touched on in this board as well as WIAC's board:

Matt Blanchard transferred to UW-Whitewater last January after a redshirt season of football at NCAA Division II Northern Michigan University.

Each year, the Warhawk football roster includes transfers from Division II schools, but this year's transfer by Matt Blanchard comes with a very unique story.

Matt's older brother, Derek, was an All-American offensive lineman at UW-Whitewater's chief rival, Mount Union College. How good of a player was Derek Blanchard? He was joined by Justin Beaver as a finalist for the 2007 Gagliardi Trophy signifying Division III's player of the year.

For the record, Beaver captured the award, which leads to the question, Why did Derek's brother, Matt, decide to transfer to Whitewater and not Mount Union?

"When it came down to it, I didn't want to follow in Derek's foot steps," Matt Blanchard tells Warhawkfootball.com. "I wanted to make a name for myself in Division III football and I made the decision that UW-Whitewater was the best program for me to do that."

Matt's choice has resulted in some ineresting conversations with his brother and parents.

Blanchard chuckled when telling Warhawkfootball.com that his parents were inundated with why Whitewater telephone calls following my decision to come to Mount Union's big rival.

"My brother just wants me to play - to be happy," Matt said. "He is a little bitter at times, we talk about it all the time. He is really a good sport about my decision."

inthecrease

whats with the 'raiders' text going down the side of the leg. its like they are going for a new nike style pant, but it looks off with the same old black jerseys

TooForRaider

Thought I'd like the black on black until I saw the pants. Jury is still out.

Anyone catch the OAC preview show on STO last night? Better than last year I thought. Especially liked how the BW player didn't even mention winning the OAC as a goal, but the Capital DB threw out the National Championship as one.

Kickoff 2009 worth the wait...have been going through all the  "stuff" and really enjoying it.  What a job of research and presentation.  Thanks to all.

Mount black pants...don't seem to fit the LK personality....don't like the lettering down the leg..dont like black on black...if the Raiders  have a disappointing performance the first time they wear them, maybe they will disappear...haha

I noticed the 3 Louisville kids are the only freshmen listed on the "2009 Football Roster" as opposed to the Freshmen roster.  Couldn't check the freshmen roster yet...link is down right now.  Just thought it was interesting.
