The run defense did well. I was trying to keep a mental tally in my head, but i do not recall a single positive yardage run by the W&Js first offense (maybe some with a yard or 2). The pass defense fared well too. They didn't have a blowup like the Browns did against Green Bay with that blown coverage, no easy touchdowns, AND missing two starters from last year's team.

TB and QB was a different story. Not gonna rehash what has been said. However, the blocking by the RB's in blitz situations scares me. Kmic was one helluva runner, but he could block too. At least once, LK made some remarks and had the lad take a break. Morring did seem to do well at blocking, but his running was unimpressive as noted.

Harrold needs to hurry back......

Oh, and the lights were too bright. Lost the ball in the lights.  ;D  Two night games this year, too.

If you sit up high on the home side you never even see the lights!  Of course you never see the apex of the kicks either!

the only play that got yardage on a semi regular basis was the bubble screen...it was successfully used by WWW  and a few others against us...Hey Coaches, what is the tough part of defending that?

Hello friends:

I posted this on some of the other boards, but just wanted to mention that Hope College is celebrating it's 100th season in football this year.  Although Hope's football program is not as old as some of the storied programs in your conference, nonethless, you might enjoy checking this link out on Hope's athletic website - some neat facts, stories and new researched info regarding Hope's football history.  I know I enjoy those aspects about all the DIII college football programs.

not a coach....but last night, at least, it seemed like a case of the MUC DL and LB getting too far upfield  and not recognizing the play or getting their hands up.

So did I--maybe just a few years longer than you did (counting grad school at a public university)-- ;D ;D

You Mount guys seem very worried about the QB and TB position after only one scrimmage. They may not be what you have been used to for the past 4 years but, you are comparing them to probably the all-time best( or close to it ) to play the positions. Don't let success spoil you. Give them a shot. If they don't work out, I'm sure LK will find somebodythat will get the job done.

For the record, all of these concerns were there before the scrimmage.  We were hoping the play of the QB & TB would dispel those fears.  Not confirm them.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

With NCC peaking, we CCIW guys are hoping this may finally be the year we can get back over the hump (i.e., the Mount ;)).  By no means wishing you any ill will, but maybe, just maybe? :D

And while Mount has clearly become the greatest dynasty in d3 history, never forget they still have not pulled off what Augustana did - four STRAIGHT national titles! ;D

And they probably didn't throw four passes.  ;D

I don't have the box scores, but you are probably exaggerating only very slightly! ;)

But until it stopped working, why change? ;D

I am tired of zapping you with negative karma on this subject. You would probably have 1000 karma points if you would just stop with the four in a row crap. When was that actually? Weren't they wearing leather helmets during that run? Cleats were not even invented. John Gagliardi was in diapers. Mount had not started playing football yet! ;D
You get a pass from me. Oh...........a pass....... that's something that is also foreign to someone from Augustana. :o

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

raiderpa

I sat in the ice and snow in Rock Island Illinois for the first Mount Union playoff game versus Augustana and the Raiders were every bit as good as the Augies, however, got beat BY THE PASS...so even if you remember Augie as a running only team, they could pass when they had to...
