I will always remember the "99 game when Augustana came to Alliance and held the ball for 48:08 to Mount's 11:52. Mount was outgained 447 to 293. Chuck Moore was even outgained by the Augustana RB David Chornery 120 to 115. But did I mention he did manage to score 4 touchdowns.  :o

Final score Raiders 42 Augustana 33.! Basically 3.6 points a minute. Priceless!  ;D

Welcome to the 20th century Auggies.  ::)

As Forest Gump would say "And that's all I have to say about that" ;)

Seventies,

I know what you were going through with your band. I was at the Boardman vs Cardinal Mooney game last night and Mooney had 18 members in their band plus some flags and majorettes. Wow.

Boardman won the battle of the bands with probably 150 members in theirs...unfortunately they didn't win the game on the field. BHS had like 8 turnovers and lost 23-17. I also saw an injury to BHS's rb like the Joe Theisman one. Ankle dislocation that had the kids foot @90 angle to his leg, ouch!!!!!!! :P

Haven't had occasion to poke a Badger lately; poking Buckeyes (since lately we can't beat 'em :'() is more my style! ;D

Mogadore lost the battle of the bands 45 to 18, but beat Mineral Ridge on the field 28-21 after a 1  hour and 20 minute lightening delay

You Mount guys seem very worried about the QB and TB position after only one scrimmage. They may not be what you have been used to for the past 4 years but, you are comparing them to probably the all-time best( or close to it ) to play the positions. Don't let success spoil you. Give them a shot. If they don't work out, I'm sure LK will find somebodythat will get the job done.

For the record, all of these concerns were there before the scrimmage.  We were hoping the play of the QB & TB would dispel those fears.  Not confirm them.

With NCC peaking, we CCIW guys are hoping this may finally be the year we can get back over the hump (i.e., the Mount ;)).  By no means wishing you any ill will, but maybe, just maybe? :D

And while Mount has clearly become the greatest dynasty in d3 history, never forget they still have not pulled off what Augustana did - four STRAIGHT national titles! ;D

[I now await my descent to negative karma. :o :P]

I am tired of zapping you with negative karma on this subject. You would probably have 1000 karma points if you would just stop with the four in a row crap. When was that actually? Weren't they wearing leather helmets during that run? Cleats were not even invented. John Gagliardi was in diapers. Mount had not started playing football yet! ;D
You get a pass from me. Oh...........a pass....... that's something that is also foreign to someone from Augustana. :o

If I was an Augie fan, I'd for sure be hanging my hat on the "four in a row thing"!  And I'd be darn proud of it.

Twenty years after LK retires and Mount has long since returned to being just another team, we're ALL going to be beating our chests over the 10, 11, 12, etc titles that they end with.  And whoever is the team to beat at that time will say something about that was a nice run, but they didn't play real football way back then.  Same as current basketball folks dismiss UCLA's run because of the era.

reality check

I scouted a team we play two weeks from now last night and ran into the father of Wabash's backup QB all the way out here in AZ.  I know Wabash has some sort of connection out here in the desert because there are always a couple AZ kids on their roster.

That was one of the choices but being a BHS grad and facing the evil empire that is Cardinal Mooney I couldn't resist. There is a kid from BHS that is going to OSU and another going to Indiana. I also think there are a couple of kids from Mooney going to D1 programs as well so I chose to drive a little to see the ol' hang out. :D

Other than the turnovers how did Boardman look. Boardman must be better than I thought they would be or Mooney isn't what they have been recently. I can't watch the vidio of the Theisman injury. When they are showing it I either turn my head or turn the channel. I am the same way when they replay the injury to Gale Sayers that pretty much ended his career.

Small but Slow

I was on the sidelines in '86 when Augie came to Alliance in the second round and beat us 16-7.  That is the most brutal football game I have ever seen.  Augie was big, tough, and had enough speed where it mattered to win tough road playoff games.  I think LK and staff took something away from that game that helped them build MUC's program into what it has become.  Augie was a true dynasty, although their run was not as long as Mount's what they accomplished during that period deserves much respect.
