Glad to hear Pat maybe coming for the BDubs game on 10/3. Assume your doing a 2'fer that day. Glad for a couple of evening games early on for those of us with jv, middle school and youth football conflicts.

This is not a maybe. This is a definite. Flight is booked and everything.

And yes, looking for suggestions for the day half of the doubleheader. OTT-BERG knocks two teams off my never-seen list but shouldn't be a good game. HIRM-WITT is a bad game which knocks off one team. BASH-ALLG is an interesting one that knocks one team off. OBER-OWU ... etc.

New poster, Enjoyed the D3 board for the past few years. MUC grad who played for Mount in the years when we were in the middle of the OAC. Look
forward to being part of the discussion. Lived in other states before returning to Northeast Ohio. One of 8 family grads of MUC.

Coach Kehres ( new him when he was a MUC QB) will ensure that the current QB situation is good shape as the season progresses. Shorts will
play WR most of the time in my opinion, but will add the wrinkle to keep the defenses honest.

In my opinion, not a lot of real "marquee" matchups that weekend other than the MUC-BW rivalry, which you are attending.

Looking around the state, the best of the rest in my mind might be the HCAC matchup of Bluffton at Mt. St. Joe (1:30pm start), but it's a heck of a long drive (5 hours, give or take) from Cincy up to Alliance (trust me, I know better than probably anyone).  You'd really be pushing to make it back for the 7pm start at MUC.

As far as distance is concerned, Cap is at Marietta, a pretty easy trip right down I-77 from Canton but probably not a very good game.  You mention Berg @ OTT...same thing, but could be a surprise in terms of competitiveness.  The other OAC day game is JCU at WILM...meah... not worth the trip

Delaware is not a terrible trip if you want to catch the OBE @ OWU game.  Springfield is probably between 3.5 to 4 hrs from Alliance for the HIR @ WITT game.

Kenyon might be terrible, but they are probably the closest in terms of driving distance from Alliance.  They host Carnegie Mellon at 1:30.

I don't know, Pat.  Nothing that screams "must see" in my mind.  I don't know where else you have visited and I know you like seeing teams you haven't seen before.

You might want to look over into PA.  Some of those schools aren't a bad drive from Alliance and there might be some better games.

Was very surprised to see 3 freshmen from Louisville on the 2-deep.

Moi aussi, Reality.

Hate to admit that the Kenyon-Carnegie Mellon contest might be the best matchup, but Case Western at Denison is probably better football in total and about 2 hours and 25 minutes away. Made that bus trip many times in college when Denison was still OAC

BTW Denison is an awesome setting on a fall afternoon

But Case at Denison is a 7pm start time, same as the MUC-Flaming Pile game.

Will the North Central vs. Ohio Northern be the most competitive non-conference OAC game this weekend??

Raider 68 - As Larry says everytime I see him  "At least I'm not the oldest one here now"

Not sure exactly how you mean competitive, but if it's evenly matched, I'd say Franklin-BW

Seventies, I guess  you and Larry (Coach Kehres) are the younger guys!!
Not by much. George Weimer was Director of Admissions in the old white
building on state street.

I just looked at the Picks and yes 7.5 spread on the BW- Franklin would
appear to be more competitive. It is just that ONU has more to prove than
BW given the early part of the schedule and also more to lose given an 0-2 start.

I doubt it.  I expect Northern to be better than last year, but North Central is absolutely loaded this season.  I think the Franklin/BW game could be a good one but without their stud QB, I can't guarantee it.  Another game to keep an eye on maybe Mt St Joe / Wilmington.  Wilmington will score some points, the question is whether they can play defense.

FYI, be sure to join our OAC Pick-Em contest.

Sounds as though we could see North Central  as a top playoff contender
if they are that loaded.

You  have doubts on the MUC QB and RB. Could be a rotation at both
positions in the early part of the season like Zac Bruney until experience
and reality set in.
