Cap wins it, 31-21.

Marty throws for 274 yards and 2 TD.  D'Andrea runs for 97 yards, and Matt Merritt adds 72 on the ground.

487 yards of total offense for Cap.  D gave up a few big plays but played much better in the second half.

Nice job, Northern!

My 13yo and I are listening to the MUC game ... for some reason, he thinks the phrase "Seaman to Shorts" is humorous.

I hope he hears it a lot this season.
Oops!  That was me ... forgot he was still logged in.

Ah, yes - junior hi humor!

Wait 'til Seaman faces Assman.  And if only MUC faced DePauw (qb = Spud Dick). :o  Your son would be in stitches. ;D

Actually, if he can just get to a Mount Union home game I will try to introduce him to our own Dr. Rod(ney) Dick who is head of the writing program and a Professor of English.  He usually attends the games.

Wow, Mount holds SJF to net 13 yards on 32 carries. Thats sick ;)

Rocco's stats look impressive - but I don't like the rushing line. Tailback by committee nevers seems to work in the end. Anyway we can get a hold of "Old man" Pentello to see if we can get Nate another year?

it looked to me today that Harris and Lemmon will be taking over the HB spot in the near future.  Morring ran hard, but he lacked the burst to break a run.

Also, where did LK find this kick-off kicker? Herm Timmersjo?  Kid was killing the ball on ko's

Hello From Rochester!

Skunk and I made the journey today.  Easy, but boring drive.  SJF is in a nice area of Rochester, with some nice homes sitting back from the street.  Skunk and I are staying up by the airport, and found a little neighborhood bar pre/pre-game, and the locals were very gracious.  Found out we were from Ohio and we almost didn't get out of there with all the drinks they were buying.

Impressions from the game.....
SJF isn't any better...and if anything...worse.  Don't get me wrong..they played hard....good effort....but WOW!  W & J gave Mount a much sterner test last week in the scrimmage.  Now a scrimmage isn't a game, but still....

Ok....I have read the board regularly, and knew about the "fancy port-o-potties.....but ummmmm...really????  You have this beautiful stadium...great campus....nice area....all this brick everywhere...and then......frickin' fancy port-o-potties???  That is just sad......

Congrats to Rocco.......way to rise to the challenge.  He had one brain fart (attempted to pitch/pass the ball back to Morring who wondered what the HECK he was doing), but overall played extremely well.  And I tried to tell you guys........Seaman is there....for real....and if Rocco slips......Seaman is the starter.

Running backs were "serviceable"...and there is NO ONE in D-III football that can cover Cecil Shorts.  When he caught that little flair pass...and just POOF....gone......it was frickin' scary.

Skunk and I ate a steakhouse called Delmonico's.  Nice place....good steak for the price.  Saw some pretty amazing local bartender talent at the neighborhood joint.  NICE!

nevermind, did some research:

HERMAN TIMMERSJO, Martins Ferry - This exchange student had never kicked a football before showing up in the Land of the Purple for coach Dave Bruney.

The 6-5, 235 pounder was good on 26-of-28 PAT tries and also had three field goals, including a long of 42 yards.

He was a first-team all-district and all-Buckeye 8 selection. He was also honorable mention all-Ohio.

Timmersjo was a 14-year soccer player in his home country of Sweden.

Timmersjo is the son of Rune and Marie Timmersjo, and his host family in Martins Ferry is Keith and Carol Sommer.

The Swede made some nice catches pregame too.  I thought he might be a new TE for MUC with #83.

Thanks SJF for gracious hosting on a classy field, beautiful campus and charming town.

quote about CS III

They compare him to (former Mount Union star Pierre) Garcon, who's now one of the top receivers for the Indianapolis Colts," Vosburgh said. "Is he as good? I don't know, but he's very good."

Be sure to vote in the poll on the main page, my assumption that Otterbein would be second doesn't look that secure after yesterdays results

After a long break, Broward county checking back in. Glad to hear the trip to Rochester was a good one, thanks to SJF for the internet video feed, the purple filled visitor stands were impressive looking. I thought that things went better than expected after reading some of the concerned posts coming into the game after W&J. Running back by committee can work if its the right committee, I'm just not so sure about a whole backfield by committee (Rocco, Seeman, RB rotation) I'm sure the bye week will help sort some it out and based on ONU's impressive performance the trip to Ada should be a decent measuring stick.
