Sounds like the D played very well, as usual.  Nice game from Panchik today (30 carries, 145 yds, 2 TD).  He seemed to carry the load in the 2nd half.

They brought their "A" game, it just wasn't enough. Thank you DEFENCE, what a great job today. I would say this was the test that the Raiders needed and it turned out well. Hate to say it but the Otts are still on the prowl, but today was a huge hurdle. Now we need to work on curtailing the stupid penalties. Still can't believe they called the one in the end zone at the end, the man tripped & fell on him.

Way to go Raiders !!

JK

Cap gives up 3 Garbage time TDs to make it much closer than it should have been.  46-32 Cap win.

Marty throws for 214, 2TD, 2 INT

Cap has not one, but TWO RBs go over 100 yards.  D'Andrea gets 137 and 1 TD.  Matt Merritt gets 101 and 3 TDs.  Evan Blake with 85 yards recieving, Matt White with 42 and 1 TD.

All the garbage time got Andrew Miller 401 passing yards and 4 TD, 1 INT.  Cap holds the Berg to -2 yards rushing.

Total yards 530 for Cap to 399 for Berg.  Of note, Cap had 10 penalties for 130 yards.  With that and the late passing yards given up, Bickel will have some things to coach them up on this week.

Unacceptable to go from up 40-10 with 12 minutes left to only winning by 14, but a win is a win.

Nice game, Northern.  Way to stretch the Raiders.  A couple passes either-way of being something different.

MUC wouldn't have half the championships they do if they played their regular season outside the OAC

No details yet, but according to OC's site they beat Musky 38-21.  Underwhelming after the Muskies couldn't do anything offensively against Defiance.

That's what they reported on the postgame of the Capital broadcast.  Otters had some trouble getting started against Bethany in week one and they were down at half to Musky???

I am confused.  Are you saying that the OAC is weak, so MUC has so many championships.  Or, are you saying that the strength of the OAC helps MUC prepare for the playoffs and that has enabled them to win more championships?

I read it as the latter.

Has to be that. The OAC is obviously one of the two toughest conferences in D3 and MUC has to be on their game every week, no exceptions. This can't help but ensure that they are ready when the playoffs begin, as opposed to teams who may have one really tough game in weaker leagues and suddenly find themselves playing a UMHB or Linfield or W&J in the playoffs. MUC has already been there, so to speak.

Thanks, Doc.  That's what I meant.

I even rewrote it twice to make sure it said what I meant, or so I thought.

ONU did bring their "A" game, very little offense. Their Defense will greatly help them going forward, but they need to get the offense together.

The Raiders D was great today and the offense went back to basics after
an unusually sub-par first. Running game is a must and maybe the second half gave them some confidence.

The OAC will have some close games this season.

reality check

Disappointing to lose today but ONU hung with the Raiders.  All this talk about no offense and solid defense seems skewed to me.  How about this?  Maybe the MUC D is good enough to shut a good offense down.  ONU just put up 400 yards of offense against North Central.  After game one, there was a lot more offensive potential than the ONU faithful have seen in some years.  ONU will score plenty of points in OAC play this season despite today's total.  I think MUC got it's test based on what we saw in week one from other OAC schools and what it sounds like is going on so far today.  Maybe JCU or BW surprise tonight but I doubt it.

If ONU wins out, they've got to be in a very good spot come playoff time.  They need to play the way they did on defense today and keep focused the rest of the season.

MUC needs their 'A' game against Wilma or Musky?  Really? ::)

Probably the only tougher prep overall would be the WIAC (they might have more challenging weeks in the ASC or CCIW, but perhaps not as many TRULY challenging games), but at least arguably MUC would have fewer titles then (if in the WIAC), since they might not have MADE the postseason one or two of their title years.

MUC does need to get their special teams clicking !!
