Phew!!  It's been a long time since we have had such a challenge in the regular season.  Great game by Capital today!

Congrats Raiders for pulling it out.

Anyone have any idea what the two team kneel down was in the middle of the field after the game?

My Mogadore Youth JV's drop a second meeting with Barberton to end the regular season 7-1. Hopefully we meet again in the championship and make the season series 2-1.

Trying to get out of here to go the Wooster tonight.

Some much for the argument that we were worrying about nothing in the preseason. This is still not a playoff ready team

My guess would be a group prayer - usually see this with members of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Capital looked dominant and they were pumped!  What an artist that Assman is.  We finally got a bit of pressure on him late in the game, but even that didn't seem to affect his composure. I was glad to see MT. fans come alive. The customary complacency bothers me.  Capital made a great team effort, skilled, strong and well-coached, well rehearsed. What a game!  We have our work cut out for us second half.

It seemed like it was the entirety of both teams--that was what was surprising to me.

Just got home from Bexley, grabbed a bite and now I'll share my 2 cents...

First off, it was an exciting game, but I didn't enjoy it particularly.  Not because I want to see MUC blow everyone out so much as because I thought the offense looked a little flat.  Credit to Rocco for stepping up huge in the 4th quarter and marching them down the field for the tying and winning scores.  Combine that with the scoring drive to end the 1st half and he put TD's on the board in 3 big spots today.  He also did a really nice job of escaping sacks today.  I think Seaman only played 2 series (and 1 of those he handed off 3 times and they punted) so those of you that were wondering if LK would start leaning one way or the other may have an answer.

Panchik had a pretty solid day again.  I know his numbers don't look good, but he lost around 15 yds on his last 2 carries running the clock out, so he was probably over 5 ypc before that.  Not mind blowing, but very solid.

Shorts had a nice day, but I don't remember him even running a deep pattern today really.  He caught a lot of balls within 5 yds of the LOS today.

I will admit that I wasn't watching every play for it, but it didn't seem like MUC was getting a ton of pressure on Assmann.  And a couple times they did he still found open WR for nice gains.  I told my buddy that I can't remember the last time I had that little confidence when MUC had the opposition in 3rd and 5+.  I was nervous about MUC's ability to stop Cap from completing 10 yd passes at will.

I was glad to see Budzinski step in full time after the Williamson injury and play well.  That's one of the staples of all MUC teams...a guy goes down and someone else steps in and makes plays.  The Herbert strip/Budzinski recovery was the turning point of the game.

The thing that left me scratching my head was Cap's last possession when they ran D'Andrea on 2nd and 10 and Millings threw him for a loss of 6.  I guess I understand that they were trying to get to 3rd and manageable, but he ran outside to the wide side.  They had almost no success running wide all day (especially the RB's).  It seems like that plays into MUC's strength (speed on the edge).

I think that hit Stewart laid on Matt White gave ME a concussion in the bleachers.  That was a shot.

All in all, good game from Cap.  Good job to MUC for pulling it out, but I think this game was a wake up call.  They have a lot of work to do before the playoffs.

Dr. Acula

Also, I saw a guy in military fatigues and I almost said "Hi, I'm Dr. Acula" but at the last second I saw his name patch and it wasn't JK.  That would have been awesome.  Some soldier standing there looking at me like I'm insane after a total stranger introduces himself as Dr. Acula.

I was there.  I was sitting about three rows from the top near midfield.

Great game.  Very easily could have gone the other way... wish it would have.  One of these times Cap is going to pull one of these out.

Talked to Ric and HSCoach afterward, good to see you guys.

The stats were darn near as even as the score would indicate.  Marty threw for 245 and 2 TDs, Rocco for 315-ish.  No sacks for either team and only the one pick thrown by Rocco.  Not much of a running game for either team, although Panchick got the tough yards that MUC needed.

Was very impressed with Cap's defense.  I had mentioned earlier in the year they seemed suceptible over the top and had given up a few long TD passes.  Shorts really had me worried, but Cap's DBs did a great job of keeping him in front of them and not letting him get loose for the homerun.

Marty did a good job of audibling at the line and taking what MUC's defense gave him.  He did a great job in 3rd and 5 or less.  Cap got themselves in 3rd and manageable a lot and when they did they converted.  They even converted a couple of key 4th downs (but not the most important last one).

Oh, and Evan Blake caught that ball that they called Pass Interference and then the personal foul on Capital.  Absolutely a great catch, too bad the refs didn't see it that way.  No idea what the Unsportsmanlike call was on Cap, I suspect someone said something in the confusion...  I don't think it was for being on the field.  They hadn't gotten a sideline warning yet, so if a coach came out, it would only have been a warning, right?  Unless, like I said, someone said something...

THe fumble was certainly a big turning point, but I think the play of the game was Millings dropping D'Andrea for a 6 yard loss near the end of the game.  I think Assmann audibled into that play.  I don't now what his read was, but I do think he made the call on the field.  Like I said, Cap did great in 3rd and manageable, and that took them right out of their gameplan.  Matt White almost made a great grab on 3rd and 16 but couldn't get his foot in bounds.  There aren't a lot of plays in the playbook for 4th and 16, and that was all she wrote.  Cap had their chance and let it get away.  Credit MUC for the win, but Cap was in the position they wanted to be in and they let it slip through their grasp.  Unlike 05 and 06 when they tested MUC in the playoffs, Cap played this game from even or ahead most of the game.  The talent gap MUC usually has didn't appear that great today.  These were two evenly matched teams, and I wouldn't be surprised to see cap actually move up in the rankings despite the loss.

I hesitate to mention this, because I don't want to take away from what was a great game, but I saw the absolute most classless display by a fan EVER today.  Sorry Mount fans, I know most of you guys aren't like this, but you wonder why you get a bad reputation?  Here is why...

After the Assmann fumble a MUC fan that was standing in the walkway  at about the 50 yard line turned to the Cap fans, grabbed his crotch, said a few profanities and then flipped off the fans in the stands.  To make it worse, he was standing there with his WIFE.  To make it even worse, asfter he was confronted by a Capital official, he walked toward the MUC end of the stands and a few MUC fans HIGH FIVED HIM!!!!  He then proceeded to run away from the cops out of the stadium and around the library into the alley on the east side of the stadium, outside the fence, yelling and taunting the cops the whole way.  I think he might have had a little liquid courage, but still, what a d-bag.  The MUC fans sitting behind me were even upset by the scene.  SOrry folks, but a-holes like that earn you a bad rep.

Cap certainly made a statement today, but it will all be for naught if they don't win out.  ONU, OTT, and maybe even JCU will be tests.  But, I think this Capital team is the second best team in the OAC right now.  Here's hoping we'll see you again in the post season.

Yeah JK, there's one in every crowd, eh?

I have to say that as well as Assman played, for the last 3 quarters anyway, I'm surprised Cap didn't score more...not sure if that's a testament to our D or not. Well played game by Cap...one of the few times Mount and its fans were sweating bullets.

that was a wild one in bexley.  hats off to cap for a great effort, but they just came up a bit short.  although i will say that they were the best team MUC has faced this year.  the thing that kept Cap in the game was all those 3rd down conv.  their playcalling was incredibly predictable but assman was making some incredible throws on 3rd down.  i wont go as far to say that the Mount D showed holes but rather had a poor day in the tackling department.  we all knew that the only way to run at Mount is right at them, and that worked a bit for Cap and then Assman making the throws.

i was not sure if we would see Rocco after that ill-advised int in the 3rd, just a horrible decision, but it was great to see him lead the raiders to the final score and win.  hope that can build his confidence a bit.....oh yeah, good to see williamson back in the game late too

Way to pull it out Raiders ;) They may have exposed a few weak spots, so let's learn from what we saw today. This was a great team effort, especially for Rocco. He came through when he needed to, showing that he can play when facing a good team. What a shame they gave Cap a pick just before that long drive, it should have been interference on Cap. The defender clearly pushed Cecil off the field, but they missed that one. Water over the dam now, we need to shore up the "D" a little and perk up the "O" before the playoffs. We still have the Otters to deal with and you ca Their QB is already shooting his mouth off,n bet they will be coming in loaded for bear.Their QB has started to shoot off his mouth off already, making good locker material.
Congrats to all you guys, you played a great game!!
