I'm surprised the throngs of Heidelberg fans didn't point out that this was only the second home game for the Student Princes so far this year...and before you ask, that hasn't happened since 2006 in Tiffin.

Interestingly though, they put up 331 yards of total offense in their loss to JCU and 333 in yesterday's loss.

On another note, with Earlham and the HCAC announcing that they'll be joining the Heartland, that leaves a an opening in the NCAC.  Is JCU thinking about it?  If they would bolt for the NCAC would that be a good thing or bad thing for the OAC?  It would be interesting for the OAC to shrink so that a second non-conference game could be had.  Of course, that would make MUC's scheduling twice as challenging.

I'm not sure that means there's an opening. And if so, I think the NCAC would like to fill with DePauw.

To lose votes after beating a top 25 team on their field like they did, a team that twice in the last few years, pushed the Raiders at Mount Union Stadium during the playoffs only to fall by 3 points each time, is ridiculous.  Even more so when Capital jumps five places in the poll.  I don't think you can have it both ways.

I don't think this is having it both ways at all. Both are results of having it the same way, moving Mount Union and Capital closer together because of a close game.

And let's be honest, the Capital team that pushed Mount Union twice in the playoffs is not the same team as it is now. Same school, but not sure that has a lot of bearing on the game from last week.

Have not seen MUC play or practice this year,,my question is this..Has Rocco silenced his early season critics or doubters,,or have you just moved on to other subjects ?? Just wondering ,,,,

If Larry is happy with him, that's good enough for me ;)

The NCAC rejected JCU at least once.

I know the Wabash folks would like to see DePauw get in and that would provide a travel partner for sports other than football.  And DePauw has the coveted Phi Beta Kappa chapter.   But do you have any information besides logical speculation that the NCAC would want DePauw?

The only reason I brought it up was that it was rumored earlier in the year that JCU might be looking to make the move.  I don't have a clue whether or not that could/would/should happen.  I just thought it made sense to ask.  I would think the NCAC would want to fill that slot mostly because if they didn't, I'd think that they'd have to look at scheduling all opponents each year, as the OAC does.  That would make for less non-conf games and thus would pose challenges for schools like Wabash because of the DePauw game.  I have no clue.  Just speculating.

Well, the thing is the NCAC plays just seven conference games but has 10 conference members playing football. With nine, yeah, they would have to schedule late-season non-conference games, but they do have a current willing scheduling partner in the UAA, so they could continue there, play every conference member and play eight conference games, then schedule one game against a UAA member. Or they could do themselves a favor and forego the scheduling partnership altogether.

I don't know if I have missed a previous conversation on this, but what are the reasons JCU would be looking to leave the OAC, and also that the NCAC would rather pick up DePauw than JCU if JCU was in fact looking to leave?

JCU is an elitist school who thinks they are better than the rest of the OAC and they can't beat MUC so they want to leave so they have a better chance of making the playoffs.

Congrats on post 2500!

I've gotta get a life!

Just sorted the Member List by number of posts and I am on page two.  30 per page and I am number 58 with 2501 posts.  Sad, just very sad...

Not as bad as Reality Check though who has 3101 posts and is #40th place.

Well...it's been a awhile since I've commented but I've spent some time pondering this OAC season.

In years past when Mount was blowing out conference opponents by 50 points per contest Pat Coleman would say...that proved that the OAC was not as strong and balanced as the WIAC.

With scores this season being much closer week to week...I would contend (using Coleman's rationale) that the OAC is much more balanced then in year's past and therefore the strongest conference in the country top to bottom over anyone else.

Thoughts?

Four teams in the Top 25 this week for the OAC while the WIAC only has one helps your argument.  Especially when ONU is currently 4-2, but given enough respect to be rated 20th in the country.

Thanks Kirasdad. Your comment re: The OAC's presence in the Top 25 was also part of my rationale.  I'll be interested to see if Pat weighs in regarding this matter.
