anybody know if Panchik is going to play this week, or why he was out against the Berg? Thanks

....and back to scholarship talk

I asked that question about Panchik's injury early in the week, but no
one seems to know his status. Was he held out of the game for other
reasons ( I hope not). Maybe someone has some info now?

Your response on this and the referral to the depth chart tells me that
injury may not be the problem with Panchik...........Just a hunch!

RC,
I have heard that UD was once the "ultimate party school". Rumor has it that St. Patty's Day used to be out of control.
My son is an 07 grad. He said the administration had put 'the clamps down" on the revelry that was a tradition. Alum's grew tired of hearing about the partying and were withholding donations.

Runyr....that coach was also the last Captial coach to beat Mount.

Unfortunately your success in football especially in the OAC hinges on the support of the Administration.  In the mid 90's Caps financial packages was a joke.  Package that with playing and practicing in a crappy stadium doesn't spark the interest of top players.

Wait... I resemble that remark... (my senior season at Cap was 1996).  Although I did graduate with no debt, not because of Cap's financial packages, but because of an ROTC scholarship.

Yes, it was my old HC, Roger Welsh who made that comment, and it was during my Sr. Season of 1996 when we were perhaps as bad as we had ever been (we would finish 1-9 with only a 7-0 win over Bethany in week one) and MUC was in the process of going on to NC #2 with arguably their best team of the run.  Coach Welsh said a lot of silly stuff.  We didn't really take a lot of it to heart, but we all kinda understood that MUC was out of our league.  Not saying we didn't play hard or try or think we could still win if everything went right for us, but we also accepted the reality of the situation.

However, like e-lee said  Coach Welsh went on to be AD for another 10 years and was instrumental in bringing in Jim Collins (and former SID Len Reich, current mens BB coach Damon Goodwin, and many others), finally getting the Cap Center built, and getting the school (at least the former administration) behind the athletics program.

And yes, Roger Welsh was the last Cap coach to beat MUC.  26-25 in 1987....

According to my source, Panchik has practiced the last two days.

One of my faves.  But I had to turn it off when my WWII vet father was home.  Would switch to Gilligan's Island to really set him off!

Do they still show Polka Varieties?

At least you're right about the Ghetto.  When I was 13, my brother was dating a girl in one of the houses on Alberta St.  I was dragged to many a house party while my responsible brother "watched" me on weekends.  I did my first kegstand in the Ghetto on St. Patty's Day weekend before they used to shut the campus down.  Maybe I'm one of the reasons?!?!

This explains alot, RC

has anything heard from 4u?

I haven't heard from 4u but I did see that his nephew is playing in the UFL now.  After being let go by the Broncos, Kircus apparently landed with the Dolphins and started 2009 in Montreal but is now playing with Las Vegas.  He's got 6 catches for 87 in 2 games so far.

Be careful what you wish four!!!

RC Cola, he's my cousin not my nephew.  I don't need you aging me more than coaching high school football already does.

So, how are things, gentlemen (and I use that term loosely)???  Michigan is cold and wet as I indirectly follow the MIAA which, this fall, is about as exciting as viewing a documentary on how paint dries.  I still check on the Streaks each week but have found myself with writer's block in terms of any opportunity to run relevant smack.

Doeder is busy repopulating the western hemisphere.  Like George Fourman, he has named his children Doeder 2 and Doeder 3.  They were born not with birth certificates but rather rap sheets.  Cuyahoga County's finest keep 24/7 surveliance on the Doeder home.  So, long story short, he likely does not have internet access... 4u

That's the quality my posts have been lacking.  I need to start being a bit more witty.  Ancona being out of Division III seriously hampers my material and motivation.

Seeing as he is my former roommate and was in my wedding, I probably have more to say about current Cap OL coach, but he is also a dear friend so gonna leave him out, except for complimenting him on getting Cap's OL going.   I still think the OL I coach is better, a Clemson commit, an East Carolina commit and another kid I think will be Division I once we start getting his film out.  But his OL is much better coached than mine.
