I dont get to post often even now that I am starting to post again, but man do I hate Otterbein.

Not to prolong a "sore subject" so I'll only briefly return (comment) to it here:

..."pisstivity" - now that's one word I've never heard before! ;D  Quite amusing and potentially appropriate in some instances I would dare say.  I might have to keep that in mind in the future perhaps over on our board. ::), although incidents for that over there are rare since we have few miscreants. ::) ;)

Anyway, while Mount continues on its usual path, it is interesting to see some of your other league teams playing better this year, particularly Otterbein, although they still have Mount upcoming.  Still some good teams even Capital despite their two losses.  At least they are having a much better season than my Hope team. :( :P

Carry on fellow posters/colleagues. :)

watching that game brought back a lot of memories for me personally from 2005. Not a bad game that year, either

Just wondering if any of you Mount superfans have a excel database on this.

Does the Coach ever call for a pass play with the ball  inside their own 5 yard line?

Kehres is a native of Diamond, Ohio and went to Southeast High School.  He played quarterback while attending Mount Union College (67-70) and still holds the school record for longest pass completion, 95 yards for a touchdown, in a 1970 contest versus Ohio Northern.

I'm sure all the Mount posters knew that. The longest rush was actually much more sacred and stood for about 50 years. Held by longtime French Prof Hugh Jae and now in the hands of Nate Kmic. Chuck Moore broke it as well. but before playoff and Stagg Bowl records counted.

BTW I hear this Kehres fellow has a pretty good coaching record as well.

Sorry I missed that pass play by Kehres but I'm pretty sure I was busy in the Army at the time, but I have been to Diamond and Southeast high School
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I'm still waiting for JK's next post so I can see the OC love.

This is the loophole he found in your wager.  ;)

I don't think JK's about to quit playing the PickEm!   ::)

Apparently there is some kind of uppity academic rating that all NCAC schools must hold, and currently JCU does not hold  it.  It may be something as simple as membership in some organization or meeting certain criteria for membership that they have not pursued yet.

Thanks for the info.  Do you know the source on this?  I had heard elsewhere that it was sort of an unwritten rule that you had to be a Tier 1 liberal arts school in US News and World Reports college rankings or something.  (1) I think those ratings are mostly a pile of junk and (2) JCU is not a liberal arts school according to them, but a Midwest Master's University (as are all of the OAC schools I believe), so that may be a big reason they don't fit in the NCAC.  I highly doubt that JCU is leaving the OAC any time soon anyway.  They seem to be fairly competitive in most sports.

Anyway, wI was shocked to see the spread on the pickem was higher for ONU/Marietta than for JCU/MUC.  I don't participate in the pickem much, but it can't be too often that the MUC game (especially against a down JCU team) isn't predicted to be the most lopsided OAC game.  Of course, the last time it was thought that JCU could keep it fairly close with MUC (2005 when they beat ONU, who had beaten MUC) they lost 70-0, so who knows.

Where is a good place to drink and eat after the game?

I'd recommend Pizzazz, which is right on North Park near JCU's main entrance.

Beyond that, there are a number of other places near campus, but it depends on how far you're willing to drive.

I'm pretty sure you meant to type "OC" rather than "ONU" for the spread against Marietta. I was also surprised. I feel pretty confident OC won't have a let down before the week 9 match up but i'm not sure if they'll be able to cover 37.5. Seems to be a bit much.

This couldn't possibly be the case, or maybe it was at some point, but not anymore.  Hiram is a Tier 3 liberal arts school, and up until a year or two ago, Wittenberg was, as well.

HScoach-

I don't think you should allow PM's this month. Make him suffer. Besides, he brought the bet back onto the table! I was gonna let it go this year!!

I meant to mention that, but I guess I left it out.  I don't know...maybe they were "grandfathered" in or maybe they fooled them since they refer to themselves as the "Harvard of the Midwest" :) (along with about 20 other schools).
