Does it make anyone else sick that the two starting pitches in the World Series are former Cy Young Winners for the Indians?

Quote from: Raider 68 on October 29, 2009, 09:31:11 AMI felt the same way and I was happy for Cliff Lee. Everyone thought CC would leave the tribe, but others though Cliff could have stayed. The Tribe like the Browns need new owners who are willing to make and keep the investment.

I'd rather see CC get a ring, but not with the Yankees.  I think the reality is that neither of those guys were going to sign with the Tribe after their original contract was up.  The Tribe just doesn't have the money to compete with the big pocketed owners of teams in the big markets.  Baseball needs a salary cap in my opinion.

If you want equality in professional sports, then there needs to be a TRUE salary cap.....no additional monies due to television contracts, deferred payments, bonuses that don't count against the cap, etc.  Then, you could find the organizations that are truly the most efficient/effective; not just the one's who can pay the most.  Teams like the Yankees disgust me, with their attempts to buy the series every year.  I end up rooting against them.  The same holds true for the Red Sox, the Cowboys, etc.....spoken by a long-time Reds/Bengals fan who is tired of being referred to as "mid-market".

I feel you on the "Mid-Market"... BUT, as a Bengals fan... all things are equal in the NFL with the revenue sharing.  Mikey Boy Brown is responsible for them playing like a sack of turds the last 20 years.  Refusal to invest in a scouting department (the coaches scout during the college season) being reason #1 and #2 they don't have a true GM ---

The Reds are trying, at least... but need to follow the Twins model and develop their own.  They are on the way... but we've been saying that since they opened up GABP, it seems  ???

I see Mount moving to the East again, with the 2nd place OAC remaining in
the North. Also, it is easier to move UWW to the North to balance out the current West region, assuming these teams win out for the season.

LOTS of football to be played yet... to be able to see anything, really.

Besides... the OTT QB all but guaranteed that we'll see them move the ball on the MUC defense... should be a dandy.

Too many one loss teams to consider CAP for a Pool C .... agree with whoever said it that ONU is the team who could be in with two-losses.  If you want the OAC to get three in... you root for ONU when they play at Capital.  Without their win against NCC (and with what NCC has done since that loss), we'd be saying the same for ONU... not sure how CAP got involved in the two loss talk.   At last count there were 50 teams with 0 or 1 loss in their region... 22 of these will be in the dance through Pool A.

I don't think Capital gets in.... ONU would be their best win.  Not enough teams will lose 2 games this year for them to be selected, ala Wooser in 2008.   Just my opinoin... that and $1.00 gets you a cup of coffee.

from last year.

Likewise, the Raiders won't look beyond JCU. But, all in fun, it did make last years game alot more fun while it lasted.
Is JK truly an Otter fan now? ..........hehehe, the JK is "just kidding" JK ;D

oh I'm not saying the OTT QB knows what he is talking about... I'm just saying should bring about some more emphasis on the Raider defense... that kid is crazy if he thinks he's going to go all General Washington on MUC and march up and down the field.

skunks sidekick, seventies raider, et al, i am thinking about taking the trip from Philly to Alliance next weekend to see the game.  I just read some of the recent posts and it seems like there is a bit of recent history between these 2 teams.  Are you guys going to be at the game and do you think it will be worth the drive?  I had a good time last year and the son may come home from school to give me a riding companion.  I watched the Capital game online and thought they played a great game.  Can Otterbein do the same thing?  Let me know what you guys think about the game to help me with my decision, as you know a 6 hour drive is nothing to me to see a good football game.

raiderpa

There is no way the committee EVER puts three teams from one conference in the playoffs...it is more politically correct to give what could have been a third bid to someone else and spread the playoff wealth...

Wesleydad,

It will be a good game if you're a Mount fan and a not so good game if you're an Ott fan.

Does that help?

hey, glad to see you do still drift the OAC boards, lol. I was with you at the WingsWarehouse last year or was it the year before, lol, when you came to see Mount play. Ott and Mount should prove to be a decent game this year as well, and if you feel like making the trip i'm sure it would be worth the visit. Drop me a PM if you do make the trip, we'll plan to meet up and we will have our tailgate going as well.

Here's hoping you make the trip. I tend to think that it will be a much better game than some on here think. All of Suburban Youth Football will have their championship games on this Sunday so Kevin and I will be there. Because of his schedule, the only regulat season home game I'll see this year. (Next year, probably worse). I may be rushing out in the fourth quarter because HS playoffs will be starting that week and we're on Saturdays
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Westly Dad   ...I hope you make the trip, but you wont see a close game.  You will get to see a championship team coming together for their Title run, and some great D-3 players.  The number of points scored in the next three games by the Raiders on opponents will be determined by LK;  because  JCU,  the Otters, and Marietta have no chance of stopping these guys.  Be glad to buy you a cheeseburger at the Hood after the game.  Wait till you see the Raiders passing attack, awe inspiring.
