The HC at Wittenberg is a fine coach and has restored that program.  I wonder if he would be interested in coming to the OAC?  I know LK has had high praise for his efforts at Witt.  I know Witt is a fine school, but would be interested to know if he thinks the OAC (BW/JCU) would be a lateral or  downward move...

Depends on the candidates definition of a downward move. The OAC's second playoff teams have had better success in the playoffs in the past 10 years than any of the NCAC schools......plus there aren't any all-male cheerleading squads dressed as Waldo.

I don't know what I'd do if my son decided to do that.........

Yes, but those second teams in the OAC have to make the playoffs, first.  Oftentimes they're battling for table scraps and just holding out hope on selection Sunday that they'll get the nod.  At least the NCAC is more wide-open and one team is guaranteed to get a spot in the dance.

I do not buy what some are saying that both programs are having
problems recruiting due to other schools in Northeast Ohio.

I agree with most of what you said, but I think you're underestimating the effect this is having on these schools.  Between NDC and LEC both starting up football programs, and CWRU becoming a viable option for talented football players looking to continue their career, it HAS to spread the wealth out somewhat.  Add in the fact that NDC and LEC are D2 and can offer scholarships, and that makes it even harder to draw all of the talent these two schools previously had a monopoly on.
Agree there! Likewise, don't discount the pool of talent being diminished even more by Ashland University as well.

JK, and others in the armed services!

Thank you so much for your service and the duty you have taken to protect all our freedoms each and every day! Truly a solemn week, and our hearts go out to all those families and service personnel that have suffered this past week.

It's funny how small and interconnected all these coaching ties are.  Consider that Lee Tressel was also from Ada, OH.  I didn't know that until recently although it makes a lot more sense now knowing that Jim Tressel was part of the commemoration festivities at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

'Tis true.  No state produces football coaches like Ohio, and many of these guys have coaching experiences that tie them to schools at every level of high school, college, and the pros.  Always interesting to read their bios and find out where they all started out.  Ohio coaches currently dominate the top programs in Division I, but I'd be curious to learn about coaches from Ohio who are running the top programs in Division III.

Looks like Miami of Ohio might have to hand the reigns as the "cradle of coaches" over to Mount.
Do BW and JCU have to hire a Mount guy as HC?
NO.
Should they?
Depends who's available. There sure is a big pool of experienced coaches from Mount.   Many, I am sure would relish a chance to coach against LK. (At least once)

Alas thundermon turned down the date option,  she said she only dates big hairy guys that roar like a bear. That even leaves out the purple chicken besides he is only five years old.

Make that 15 yrs. old--unless you're counting something like bird years or how years of eligibility were counted for Rocky at good ol' Capital! ;D ;D

Oh goodness, are you kidding me?

Miami has Paul Brown, Ara Parseghian, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, among a great many others.  Mount Union has one guy that arguably doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the four I listed.

All respect for what Mount Union has done and continues to do, but some of you Purple Raider fans need some humility and perspective.

Definitely deserves mention, thank you!

I'm going to bet that there was a good deal of sarcasm in the first post....and LK will deserve to be mentioned with the grea Miami coaches when all is said and done

Tongue in cheek, to a degree. One sure has to be impressed with the number and caliber of coaches that played and/or coached under LK. I guess what I am trying to say is that BW and JCU would be foolish not to give a look at some of LK's disciples.
There are a lot of coaches out there that would not have even been looked at because they only played D3 ball. Because they were LK's wing they are given much greater consideration.

Really interesting part of that first bracket prediction was the line about what would happen if Averett wins their conference.  The DIII website folks would put Averett at #8 in the Mount Union bracket, which would send Averett up to Alliance in round 1.  Given what happened in the first 15 minutes of the last game the two played, it almost makes you wonder if winning the conference would be worth it.

Does anybody know what time the Stagg Bowl is scheduled for this year?  All I see on the game's website is stuff from last year's game.
