You have to have someone from your opponent show up on the board to have a discussion....There does not seem to be anyone from W & J who wants to join in. Sure if it were MUC and WW we would have all types of people here jawing there stuff. HMMMMM I wonder who that might be? ;)

Yeah, there's a couple of UWW backers that go over the top once in awhile but the rest of us are pretty reasonable.  ;D

Trust me... the impressive part of this team is the defense.  They held TMC to a season low in rushing yardage from their 4-2-5.   I really feel that if MUC gets off to their typical fast start --- which is likely because W&J has never played at MUC in the postseason (the atmosphere is impressive), they will win going away.  However --- this could be closer than some of you guys think, all depends on how W&J approaches the aerial game of MUC.  With an average season running the ball, I don't think MUC will be able to consistently run on W&J.

UNLESS:  MUC has a "Cecil Cat" Package they are going to debut --- as they'll see on film, W&J is susceptible to the spread option.

You could be right about the closeness of the game if Mount does not get a fast start. However, Mount's running game may be average for Mount given who graduated last year, but with two backs over 1200 yards between them and almost as many TD's rushing vs. passing, the running game is really average for a highly seeded team ( If there are any seeds).

I hear that attendance will be very good, especially for a former Raider, now opposing coach, and Mount is 0-4 against W & J, but that was in the 1913-4 and 1940-41 timeframe.

Wow, it seems like many of the MUC fans think they have a bye week.  Not to much talk about the game. Talking about post season honors. If this was UWW, there would be a lot of chatter about how MUC as going to do. Maybe LK will rest the starters and play his JV guys.

This game has a lot of interesting facts with W&J's Mount Union ties. Caponi, Stickley, Sirianni... I think these three keep it a lot closer than everyone thinks. Do not know if W&J's offense is capable of putting up enough points to pull off an upset but if turnovers are minimized could me interesting.

So, now that a W&J supporter is out, watch the pirahanas prey? I will say this much Mount is playing very well at the end of the season.

TDMan,
If you want these guys to take offense and mix it up with you, you've gone about it all wrong. You talk about "keeping it close" "Do not know if W&J's offense is capable..." a game that is "interesting".  You even say "Mount is playing very well at the end of the season."

In other words, you are using way too much logic and reason to get attacked here. I know there are posts which show some arrogance from time to time and I've tried to point that out. But the posters won't generally attack you for humbly backing your team while acknowledging Mount. These are MUC fans, not St. John's fans!

You've got to throw logic out the window! You've got to tell them they are living in the past! You've got to let them know as "Y" says, "Mount has never seen the whirlwind that is W & J". Cite statistics that favor your team and completely ignore the fact that Mount has gone 147-5 this decade! None of that matters when W & J charges onto the field on Saturday!  :)

how about --- the 24 yards we gained (W&J) in the 2nd half against Thomas More is all in the past.  We got it together against St. Vincent and Waynesburg!!  This team is ready to put up 24 yards on each play!!  Throw out the records... its PA vs. OH football...

er... something like that.

The W&J defense could keep this one close --- but I don't feel like they can score enough points on MUC to win in Alliance

There would also be more talk on the board if MUC was playing UWW because that would be the Stagg Bowl.  Big difference between a first round matchup and the championship between the top two teams in the country.  Now, if the board is this quiet during Stagg week, it will mean very sad things for the Raiders.

I'm very curious to see the W&J defense.  Sirianni went to great lengths in this week's media teleconference to talk about how great his defense was and that it's easily the best he's had at W&J.  Until I see if first hand, I can't believe it's any better than what Mount has already seen 3 or 4 times in the OAC.  Maybe I'll be wrong, but I doubt it.

What I can safely predict is Mount's defense will be a lot better than any other defense they've seen to date.  (Sorry SaintsFAN).  The Presidents better be ready for the intensity that MUC will bring to the field.  Especially along the D-line.

no offense taken... I've never said TMC defense is better than the product MUC puts on the field.  I only hope they make it far enough to see first hand what a championship program looks like in the Semifinals.

And of course, a SaintsFAN trip to A-town.   Drinks are on me for hscoach if that happens   ;D

I would also say this is the best defense they've had --- they move to the ball... but its worth noting they've had some very average defenses in the past.

EDIT:  So we finally have someone saying "You've never seen a defense like ours", hscoach?

Regarding all OAC,

I would suggest Kyle Miller, he has 8 TD's for 17 receptions. What other tight ends are out there that are better than Miller and/or Harrold? Their
number of receptions will probably hurt their ranking.

Perhaps a "combo" first-team selection??  There can't be a more productive pair.....unless of course you are:

Toph,

I've read your posts for years, often agree.  After your comments, below, I noticed your sig/tag line for the first time:

"I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask any man to live for mine."

You, my friend, are a student of the classics.

I really just wear nerd glasses and quote things I see to make myself seem smarter than I really am.  It seems to work.

+k for recognizing the quote.

I would like to see all  you "Mount Guys" fess up to your misjudgement of Rocco at QB. In Sept. you were highly critical of his talent. I posted, give the guy a chance. After the first 2 weeks, you guys said his performance just verified what you knew.

Now. at the end of the year, he is an all OAC QB, a team leader, and clutch performer. I am truly happy for the young man. During the season he has grown into a FB talent.
I have stated before you were spoiled having Micheli at QB. Guys like he don't come around that often.

Lastly,
I hope the Raiders win the Stagger Bowl, I love to see them pound out the wins!

Hello all you purple heads!  It's the PLAY-OFFS!

RG - we should arrive at around 10 ish.

I was impressed with W & J's defensive line in the scrimmage, so it will be interesting to see how that translates in a play-off game.

I was one that was very critical of Rocco, and I couldn't be happier for the kid, the team, and my rooting interest that he has really stepped up his game.  I am more than happy to say......I WAS WRONG!   ::)

Mt. Fan, Hurf - good to see you guys last Saturday, and here's hoping we get to have our now annual pre-semi, semi eve drinkathon this year like the last few.

Oh....and I have to say I was very impressed with the Marietta QB.  He had a really good arm, and is maybe oh....five or six more players away from being REALLY good.

Got to speak directly to one of the potential recruits last Saturday.  Pretty impressive kid, so I hope he does the right thing!   :)

See you on Saturday!

Too bad Bobby Swallow (West Branch Grad) isn't QBing for W&J anymore. It would be a pretty cool homecoming for him to play in Alliance.
