^^^Frankly, there wasn't a lot to like about Faust.  I was coaching in the Cincy area when he was the "King of Moeller".  Every year we lost about 5-6 players to Mo.  Of course, they were our best players.  Had come through our junior high program, and we had them penciled in for spots on the Varsity.  Then, right prior to 9th grade, they amazingly transfer.  Hell, he had rental property in Covington (KY) where about 2/3 of the "tenants" had children who attended Moeller.  I bet about half of the residency rules in the OHSAA Bylaws go back to Faust.

OK, I feel better......

And the remaining go back to Massillon.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Not too mention we would BEAT NAVY!!! Damn that would be sweet.

Agreed 100%...

When I was in Germany, our unit used to do a "Go Army, Beat Navy" skit that we recorded every year and sent in so it could be played during the game broadcast.  We had a large percentage of West Pointers, including both Battalion Commanders I worked for, and my battery commander, another battery commander, and the HQ battery commander were all former USMA football players.

My favorite was 99.  We were an Artillery unit, so we had a guy call for fire on a guy dressed in a sailor costume holding a goat (live- we borrowed from a german farmer).  We then showed one of our gun crews going through their load and fire crew drill, but instead of a round, they loaded a football.  We inserted stock footage of a cannon firing, a football flying through the air and then the impact of artilllery on the ground.  THen our whole battalion shouted "Go Army, Beat Navy."  Pretty fun.  The rest were weak by comparison.

But then Navy goes out and beats Army again.   ;D

On our sub we used to bet the Captain and Canoe U officers a keg for the Army Navy game, enlisted rooting for Army just to bug the officers.  Then the whole crew drank the keg at the next scheduled ships party.

Where are you hearing the W&J to the NCAC rumor, 70s??

It was in the local Washington Pa newspaper writeup about the game. I've got back it in my email somewhere. Figure if the local beat writer is saying it, he is comfortable that somebody at the school told him

I always forget most of the world remembers Jerry Faust Jr. and not his dad, the real "Fuzzy" Faust who coached Dayton Chaminade for 49 years.  It would be a lot less confusing if they didn't share the same name.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. Take to time to realize just how thankful we are and should be to have family, friends and those serving our country to protect what we all have come to enjoy...our freedoms! Thankful also to have a forum like this, Pat, Keith, Ryan, and Staff,  to chatter about the sport we've come to love and to have another 2nd season to enjoy as well! GO RAIDERS! and again Happy Thanksgiving!

I was in the new Akron U stadium last Saturday for the playoff game. The reported attendance was 13 thousand. It holds 27 thousand or so. At half capacity there was still no place to park. Just as there was no place to park when I went there in the 70s. Go figure! ;) Akron U is best at giving a head coach his first opportunity to head a program. LK is way past that. Watch for an up-and-commer to take that job. Remember when Dean Pees got fired at Kent state, he ended up coaching for LK for a year. Yo dont think that Akrons coach would be interested do you? Pees took what he learned at MUC and went to the pros. ;)

As far as the discussion about recruiting, Faust had two kids from Toledo transfer in back in the 70s and they lived in apts Gerry owned. One followed him to ND, but didnt do much there. Gerry recruited the whole state of Ohio as well as the KY and IND areas. OHSAA had no problem with it either. OHSAA has no problem with Glenville kids transferring in either. As long as Ginn steers em to OSU. If Michigan starts recruiting Glenville kids, then OHSAA will look into it :D

Jim Corrigal was fired at Kent,,coached at Mount,,  now at Hiram,,,dean pees left and went to the Patriots
