I also was at the MUC/Montclair came and also watched the replay of the young man that was injured, it was totally a Theisman like scene and i felt horrible for the kid.On another note, i have to say that was one of the most physical MUC games i can remember.

I did hear Panchic tore his ACL, i hope that is not true but it did not look good when he was down.
I also thought Morring is really running much stronger now than the begining of the year and Lemmon? I love this kid!

Here is Jake's story.....worth the time to watch!

Thanks for posting that. Really incredible to watch a kid at that age speak with such courage and strength. USC just gained a lot of points in my book.

Also, wanted to say congrats to my little brother for getting named to the Academic All-OAC team today, a feat his older brother can't ever say he did!  >:(

Congrats to your brother...Fantastic.

On Jake Olsen, what a tremendous story this is,i agree that USC got some points with me also.

Football IS just a game,no matter who wins or who loses there is always next week, for alot of people who have a serious disease there may not be a next week.

Sorry if someone already posted this.  But below is a cool article in the Plain Dealer about former Muskingum player and current head coach of OHSAA Division II state finalist Maple Heights, Todd Filtz.  He was a four year starter at linebacker for the Muskies.

Has anyone heard much about this DIII Senior Classic? I guess it's this weekend in Salem, VA. Only heard about it from Otterbein's athletics page because DB Chad Woodfork got selected to play in it. The website says that this is the first time they are trying it out. Kinda confusing because being this weekend it's not giving the guys from teams that are still alive in the playoffs the oppurtunity to play in what looks like a really neat honor. Anybody heard anything from schools other than Mount about their guys playing in it? The rosters haven't been posted yet. Here's the site...

I only knew about it because my friend in Roanoke wondered if I was coming to the game this weekend. I assured him he was mistaken and the game was in Alliance.

Curious that one of the "confirmed players" is from Linfield. Ye of little faith.

I found a list of the invited. Mount players listed as reserves

It is tough for Scott Panchik who wanted to finish his senior year on a high note, so T. Morring and Zac lemmon will have to carry the load in the final games. These guys are all pulling for each other and support their individual contribution.

Albright will test the Mount pass defense more than the other teams they
have seen which helps for the final games. I expect another hard hitting game, with hopefully less penalties.

Nice article about Albright on the front page--hope they are as focused as it sounds.  Would love to see a good game this weekend--but I'm thinking it's more likely a Monkey Stomp a la Lycoming.  Especially since our guys know that their QB is playing hurt.  I think there will be some very hard (but clean) hits early in the game to put him on notice that he's not in the East any more.

35-7 at the half--downhill from there for Albright.

Small but Slow

I also found the story about USC and Jake inspiring.  Seems Coach Carroll is attempting to teach his team to appreciate the gifts they have and to reach out to those not so fortunate.  A guy I once coached with played for Woody Hayes in the early 70's told me about feeling sorry for himself when he tore up his knee before the start of his senior year.  Coach Hayes loaded him into a car and took him to spend time with terminally ill kids at Children's Hospital.  Woody told him since he couldn't practice he expected him to spend that time with the kids every day until the end of the season then tell him how bad he had it.  Said it kind of put things into perspective for him.

I did not know that Coach Kehres and the Albright Head Coach have crossed paths before. From Albright's Website, sounds like he is really working to build a good program there.

I'm going to write about the game for a story next week. My intent is to see if it's the real deal -- scope it out, gauge how well it's executed and see how much the organizers "compromised" on their all-star choices.

Glad you liked it :)

There's no way I can really tout a team that's going against Mount Union, but if there's any belief in momentum, Albright has that going for it. I truly think this team is standing tall and is as focused as they say they are.

Does that translate into success? Not necessarily. For what it's worth, I'm thinking this'll be the toughest team Mount will have played in the past few weeks. Albright, as the coach said, has nothing to lose going into this. Everyone expects them to get pasted. Keeping the score within 30 will be something for them to build their program on. :)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Any team playing the Raiders, especially in the playoffs will not lose in the eyes of their program, fans and supporters, regardless of how many points Mount Union has versus how few the other team has scored.

It is great opportunity and you are correct in that they (Albright) have nothing to lose. It will be a good hard hitting game against a top program.

Great article! You give a great perspective we all can appreciate.

The Jake Olsen Story truly gives a much better perspective of the USC team and Pete. Very powerful little guy taking adversity head on. Jake will inspire so many more kids facing similar consequences with his books and his determination. Got to cherish and admire the will power god gives us.
