wow, we didnt even get to sunday afternoon and the smack talk is already starting :D

Theaprof, I would love to be there and celebrate before the game with you guys and I think the boy and his friend would also, but since I dont have to live with them, I am going with the peace and tranquility route.  I will get to celebrate before the game with Skunk and Skunkssidekick with margaritas which should taste great after the 6 hour drive.  The thing about us is that we will celebrate somewhere after the game win or lose, the former would be much better.  Maybe, we will have breakfast and then find a good tailgate or 2 before the game, any suggestions?

I saw Albright against Delval when they lost and I was not impressed.  2 things I know for sure is that Wesley has a better offense and defense, I believe much better.  Whether or not that shows this week who knows.  Wesley has been this far twice before and layed an egg both times, hopefully the 3rd time will be much better.

Dammit HSC!  You just HAD to ruin our "big announcement"!   ;D

I think the four semi-finalists are clearly the best four teams by a pretty fair amount.  There have been years when that wasn't really true.  I am concerned that since we haven't been tested in recent weeks, we may not be ready for a big, physical, fast team.  I think this game will be a barn-burner, and the only thing I am unsure of is how Wesley will respond when coming to Alliance to face "The Machine".

How did the blimp end up over the stadium anyway?  Was that a Terry's Tire Town special?

Jr. wants to come Friday night so he can see all my "little internet friends".  I told him he's not allowed because he might score all of Saintsfans potential chicks.  Here's hoping the talent is as good as the wings!   ;)

Pat?  Keith?  Are any of you guys coming to town Friday night?

The blimp hangar is two miles north of Hartvile.  It is out often on good weather days, I believe, training and practicing.
It is out so much in the Hartville area that the kids don't even look up at it any more.  I think is was out for a dry run and spotted the activity at MUC and just hung around for a bit of fun.

I figured the blimp was up for the state HS title games in nearby Canton.

Sidekick:  Sorry, but I wanted to save you the embarrassment of making your big announcement in front of a large group that already knew and therefore would react with the customary "ho-hum".   Hope you understand.  It was for the better.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

sidekick, i agree that a big part of this game will be how wesley responde to playing mount, which is usually the same for any team.  It would be nice to say that they should treat it like it is any other game, but it isnt.  playing mount is different and should be treated that way.  admit it that this game is big and then prepare for it that way.  no crap talks about they are just another team, they aren't.  they are the top of the line and what you measure yourself against.  this is the best wesley defense that I have seen in the 6 years i have been associated with wesley, by far.  they have weaknesses like any other defense, just not many and I am sure LK will find them.  It sounds like Mount struggles against the pass so that could be trouble as wesley has plenty of talent at receiver.  My biggest concern will be how the coaches handle the game, they did not do a very good job the times they played UWWW.  only a few of the players are still there from the UWWW beat down 3 years ago so the memory is not there and hopefully they learned from the smackdown they took last year at UMHB.  This is a good team and I hope they show it this time.  It is tough to have a real good year and then get trounced in the quarters or semis.

Count me in for friday night

I think the key to yesterday's game was the Pre game warm up! NO not the blimp! IT was LK doing chest bumps to about 4-5 players!  ;D LOL He chest bumped Terrence in the end zone and i think that was the hardest knock T-MO took all day! If you didn't get to see it, it really did get the boys rolling! Just awesome to see LK so pumped up, i think the wizard was ready to take the football and throw it himself a bit yesterday :o...lol! GOTTA LOVE IT! :D

raiderpa

as usual for most teams, the success of the Wesley passing game will be determined by the Mount pass rush...If I were game planning against MUC, I think the key is quick three step drops, bubble screens and the like.  You, most likely, will not see time in the pocket to throw deep.  It has happened, however, it is really the exception.

Isn' it about time we all heard about "Los Purple Raiders" from someone on the west coast?

Maybe we haven't heard anything because the new "PRIDE OF ORRVILLE" is Kyle Simmons and not Smucker's.

Words of wisdom, wesleydad.
Every Mount fan on here expects to see the best opponent the Raiders have faced this year.
Hope the Wolverines don't let us down.  Here's to a great game by both teams.

Just spent some time on the Wesley football site.  This is an outstanding team with some fine tradition. Should be a great match up.  The Qb looks like quite an athlete and a real threat in all aspects of the game.  I hope we hear more from the Wesley faithful on what we can expect...(other than "Mount has not seen a ......  fill in the blank... like ours)

On Kurt Rocco's rushing Touchdown:  "We don't encourage him to do that"

On the second interception: "We won't run that play again, we never execute it well"

raiderpa, i will give you the only you haven't seen yet from me.  Mount Union has not seen wesley play in person yet. :D

I  hope Wesley has a (relatively) mistake-free game.  If they do, then it can be a very good 60 minutes for the Wolverines.   If not, well, we all knows what happens.   The key will be the Wesley defense.  If they can stay fresh, then they should be able to challenge the Union line.  The key here will be spirit.  If the defense gets energized they get potent.  I have never seen before a Wesley defense hold a team on a 1st and goal on the 1 yard line twice in one game as they did this year!!  Obviously, if the defense is going to be fresh, the offense needs to really execute.  For the most part, Wesley is pretty balanced on offense, and will definately need to be error free to have any chance on scoring on Mt. Union.

I also hope it is a dry game.  It's gonna be cold in Alliance on Saturday, with a chance for snow.  That's fine, as long as there is no rain!  That makes for frozen hands and hard balls!!

We all know that MU is the big dog, so I won't blow smoke on how Wesley is going  to trash the Raiders.  But, I will say this: MU was almost beat once this year.  I think that is enough motivation for Wesley to give it their all in making this game one that people will actually be interested in listening to in the 4th quarter.  You can ask for nothing less.
