SO you think there is the possibilty of a DIII WR "foregoing" his final year and entering the draft? Reallly?!?! Might have to check with Pat on this one, but this has to be a first!  :o

If he is set to graduate, I wouldn't blame him.  Tuition and Board at MUC is crazy now days.  He probably also has to petition the NCAA for the medical redshirt, so it isn't really the same as a Junior forgoing his Senior year.

when I played... it was a tough decision for the extra year.  Yes, as kirasdad said, it was quite expensive (even way back then) so it was expenses vs. "never being able to play again" ---- for me.

Although, some are talking about NFL for CS , I think it would be an even tougher decision for anyone else.

One statement on the fan behavior thing before the discussion is dead.

It's been quite a few years since I've used our family's season tickets a couple rows behind the Merry Band of Idiots, but they will be forever off my Christmas card list for taunting the opposing players and making fun of an injured player.  Foremost Tom Arth in the 4th quarter of the semi-final playoff game when Arth had played hurt (separated shoulder if I remember right?)  before getting knocked out of the game near the end.  Hammer and Co spent the next 5 minutes as he was being attended to on the bench calling him various things that I can't type here including a certain female reproductive part.  To Arth's credit, he just waved and ignored them, but such a great competitor and his family sitting in the next section over deserved a much reception than they got.

I have no problem with cheering for your team and booing the bad guys, but when you start singling out specific injuried players, you've crossed way over the line of decent fan behavior.  I expect that out of 20 year old college kids, not supposedly grown men.

Totally agree!

It is my understanding CS has one more year of eligibility if he chooses to use it. I sure hop he does.

I can't see how but it would be nice ;D

I did hear Scott Panchik will likely have an extra year of eligibility if he wants it.

OK, one last fan story and then move on to Wesley......

During last week's game there was a college student from Albright, wearing an "Albright Baseball" sweatshirt who was roaming along the visitor's side fence encouraging his players.......also, sort of ripping the MUC team.  It was obvious that he had made a stop at a local establishment (or parking lot) prior to kickoff.  As the game's outcome became obvious, he turned his anger on MUCAW.  "Hey Bird, if this fence wasn't here, I'd come over there and kick your ___".  This continued for several minutes as MUCAW was throwing little footballs to the crowd.  Finally, fed up with his mouth, MUCAW came over and simply stood in front of him along the fence, spreading his "wings", blocking his view of the game.  He would move and say something......MUCAW would move and say nothing.  For several minutes, a dude in a bird costume totally frustrated this Albright supporter.  It was hilarious to watch from the stands...... :D

Wesley appears to, size-wise, match up well with MUC (according to the 2-deep).....where are the advantages for Mount in this game?

Purpled,

QuoteI have sat in Section 13 for a number of years and resent your comment that it's the worst. Thankfully we don't sit on our a** all game and act like it's a tea party. And the fans most of you talk about do not drop F-bombs or anything of that nature. They simply extend their right to have fun.

Face paint! Great, I have no problem with that even if you are middle aged man or woman. yes I saw the two with face paint on the parents side I smiled because you have to love the support. Old school chants start the bus after every big play MUC has I don't have a problem with that either. I did state I did not hear a single cuss word dropped from section 13. Let's put this in perspective, if i am a visiting parent or fan of Wesley coming to MUC. Would I rather sit on the MUC parents side or next to the fans in Section 13? The answer is simple next to the MUC parents who will be cheering on their team but in a different way than Section 13. If I am a steeler fan coming to Cleveland Browns Stadium for Thursday nights game. Would I rather sit in the Dawg Pound or somewhere else in the stadium. There's a different between sitting on your keister all game, cheering, and then taunting the opposing team when their down big. I am not asking you to change your cheering ways your own MUC supporters are.

About the game!

If Wesley has team speed to keep up with MUC and doesnt turn the ball over like Albright did this should be an interesting game. can Coach K and his team put together a game plan that dominates Wesley like they did against the previous foes?

I hope Shorts can continue to the D3 streak to the Pro's. He didn't have a breakout game against Albright and that doesn't mean anything. PGarcon's success in his rookie year should have some type of draft/scouting impact on Cecil. One thing I noticed from Shorts it seemed as if he wasnt as fierce as Garcon as you mentioned. Garcon is a big, strong, and fierce WR the NFL loves guys who are willing to get in there and do those little things.

I don't understand that either?

I know Cap has already been told Marty Assmann WILL NOT be granted another year of eligibility, despite the fact that he missed the biggest part of two seasons.  He was hurt in the 4th QTR of game 4 of his Soph. year, and game 5 of his Jr. year.  Either way, he played in more than 1/3 of the season both years and will not be granted an extra year, despite that actually being a whole season of games that he missed in total.

So, I don't get this about Panchick and Shorts.  I don't know WHEN they were hurt, but it had to have been early or they wouldn't be eligible for another year, and then they would have to petition the NCAA to get the year restored, and then they would have to postpone graduating (or, if they graduate, they would have to be enrolled as a full-time grad student) and pay for another semester at a private school as a full-time student (at least 12 semester hours).

Do you think Larry will use Cecil in the wildcat a few times this Sat?

Just got done reading the Alliance Review this morning and there was a write up on the game. This team seems to match up real well.I think though if Mounts's "D" can limit the their time on the filed that could be huge.Mount is going to need to be able to run the ball and use the clock to keep WU's offense off the field.

A good offense is the best Defense.

Good luck to both teams Sat.This should be one of the best games we have seen at MUC in a long time.

I agree it's football time.

Can someone give me some feedback on the two defensive players for WU that both have 10 sack each? I did hear that these guys were beast!

They are both big time players ,,have watched them all season. Ward has good speed for his size,,and is tough in the middle,,and has a quick pass rush in obvious pass situation..the DE is a good player,,and can rush well also from the outside,,and is strong vs run

They ,as a team on D , are quick,  can stunt, blitz well,,and can play a good 3 man rush when you have to pass,,

However Mount can do the same.!!!

If both teams play well  should be a real game,,and I am going to miss it :'(

Beenhittohard,

Thank you for the input.Yes, this seems like this could be an ESPN Classic.Sorry you won't be able to make it.

raiderpa

The Wesley DT, Ward is listed at 6'2" 327 lbs..if his is quick, it is hard to imagine him not having some kind of impact on the game....

I would be interested to know from Wesley folks how they rate the overall team speed of the Wolverines, as this is the usually the biggest difference in Mount and opponents...WWW has been the only team the past few seasons to be able to match the Raiders in that department other than the two Shorts TD's when he shocked them early..

reality check

Panchik has no stats for 2006 (And Shorts too for that matter).  He played more than enough in 2007-2009 though.  I'm wondering how hard it is for the NCAA to refute a guy who participated as a frosh but has no varsity minutes or stats.  I would think a program could easily say a couple years later that the player in question was "injured" as a freshmen.  Who's to know?

Just speculation.

As for Assman, I can see the NCAA sticking to it's guns because he played (barely) past the limit for a medical hardship waiver.  That would be easier to enforce from an administrative standpoint that the issue with Shorts and Panchik who could claim an injury kept them out of the statistical records as freshmen.

Thanks for beating me to it regarding "Simmons as being the best RB in the OAC."  At least we can always count on Stoonk to be consistent.

It was my understanding that filing for your medical redshirt had to be done at the end of that seasons, not 3 years later. Is this not true?

I downloaded the DIII Manual and I didn't see any requirements on "When" the Medical Hardship Waiver form had to be filled out.  I assume it must be done prior to the 5 year period of time to use an athletes 4 years of eligibility is up.
