This just in:  Keith Wakefield has been named the OC for the Stagg Bowl.  Mount will start Seaman at QB, Shorts and Lemon at RB and Morring at FB.  Tell Whitewater to start preparing for the Wing T.  :o

I like it!  Run it like Georgia Tech Runs It!

boogety boogety, boogety, let's go racing boys

It's a shame we're not a big school like Whitewater and have such a limited pool of talent to pick from. Oh woe are we ::) 8) ;)

I think all those Warhawk fans should give us 14 1.2 points

Saturday forecast for Roanoke/Salem has improved slightly. Pack that purple blanket BH2H
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

The wing-t was a pretty common base offense in the OAC during the early days of the LK era so he is familiar with it himself.  Today's wing-t varies little from the Delaware version aside from formation, QB/RB mesh points, and that the blocking is more zone than man based.  It could be an effective approach if Seaman can run effectively north and south.  We started running it at the school I coached two years ago but gave up on it when some of the assistants accustomed to the old school variety couldn't buy into it 100%

"They're at a different level," said Randolph-Macon coach Pedro Arruza, whose team lost to Mount Union in last year's playoffs. "If you're a kid in Ohio who's not going to go play Division I football, then you're going to go to Mount Union. That makes a big difference. If every kid in Virginia that wasn't going to go play at Virginia Tech, Virginia or one of the I-AAs came to Randolph-Macon, can you imagine how good we would be?"

I think Mr Arruza is quite mistaken.

^^Yep, he conveniently forgot about the number of D-II, NAIA, etc. schools that exist in OH.....it's not like these kids just fall into MUC's lap.

Not to mention the number of MAC, and FCS schools who do their share of draining the talent pool first.

JK

I don't think it is THAT far off to make that comment though.  I think MUC is on the radar screen of every kid in Ohio who plays football.  If you aren't going to play D-I, I think going to MUC at least enters your thought process as a "fall-back" option.

I think it is rare, but there are SOME kids who turn down partial offers from YSU, Ashland, Findlay, etc and go to MUC...

I know FOR SURE that most think MUC is thought of more highly than Walsh or Malone, despite the fact that those two could offer $$ for Football.

Wilmington might be in the market for a new Head Football Coach soon:

THis begs the question- how bad is Wilma if their HEAD COACH thinks it is a step up to go to High School????

wonder if they'll hire a MUC alum  ;)

I just watched the UWW-Linfield game.  I hope that Mount can at least use the trip to Virginia as a team-bonding experience.  There is no way that Mount will be able to exploit the UWW defense with play-action passes to the TE's like Linfield did or be able to pressure the UWW QB to throw off his back foot routinely like the Wildcats, not to mention that Troney guy looks a lot better this year.  at least we'll get some commercial time on ESPN2  ;D

To be fair the high school in Wilmington, OH had more wins last year than the college has managed to win in the last three.  (WHS 2009 record 7-4 vs. WC's 7-23 over the last three seasons).

The move from D3 HC to large high school HC is not that uncommon.  The HC at Otterbein when I was being recruited to go there left for a position at a Columbus are high school leaving them in the lurch in the midst of recruiting season.  The money is usually better, retirement goes into the state fund, and usually either less stress or better resources.
