Ya' just go give OlineMom a hug and stand around like you own the place. If you bring food, you get limited cuts.

Stagg Bowl on-field officials have been announced HERE.

Thank God they are not from the Heartland Conference. I'd have to bring money for another meal.

My money says if LL gets NC 2 his resumes will be everywhere except north central nowhere

I agree completely...and that scares me...I think he would be gone in a heartbeat if given the opportunity at a higher level job where it seems LK is pretty content with where he's at and what he's built

olinemom, there is no doubt that my Allegiance is to stone station but as you can see the word has a double meaning. :D  Having traveled around I get the pleasure of being welcomed by 2 great groups of people.  Is it cheating if your number 1 knows that you are seeing your number 2?  as long as neither group brings golf clubs I think I will be OK.

Kirasdad, I know the tongue in cheek, but I want some of the smack talk back.  2 more days of this and I think you 2 teams may be singing koom by ya together.

I played along with the tounge in cheek talk, but if you want some "smack talk" i'll do my best.  I tend to upset the UWW faithful at times.

I watched the UWW-Linfield game and was not that impressed with UWW.  They struggled for three quarters and then were able to capitalize on Linfield's penalty-fest.  Linfield came in giving up 23 points per game.  I also honestly think that the MUC defense is a better match against UWW without Millings.  Joe tends to be a straight up the field pass rusher, and Williamson on the edge will present a better match against the UWW rushing game.  And anyone LK follower will know that stopping the the running game is the #1 goal.

I feel that Rocco will play a majority of snaps on Saturday and be quite alright.  But if I was the UWW defense, I would much rather have Cecil potentially burning Troney 2-3 times deep instead of having the ball in his hands 35-45 times out of the backfield.    And I think that Linfield showed a way to pick at the UWW defense with lesser athletes....Mount wont have lesser athletes.

Didn't see this Terry Pluto story posted yet.  Good read if you get a second.  Sounds like Cecil is a good kid as well as a great player.  He also mentions in it that Cecil has another year of eligibility if he so chooses due to an ankle injury his freshman year.

Pat...I have met you....talked you..emailed you.....drank BEER with you.  Why does it seem that in the last few years you have this snippy, "I am Pat", "I built this from nothing" attitude about your posts, attitudes, and predictions.  Damn.....most Mount people think you are really cool for what you have done, and your objective, but passionate insight into the games.

Pat......(and Keith).....we really LIKE you guys....quit being so contrary to be contrary.  We don't like you because you "say nice things about Mount".  We like you for your passion to do what you do.  It's all good......really!

By the way, the NCAA posted the archive of the Linfield/Whitewater game:

At last check they hadn't posted the Mount Union/Wesley game, but I suspect most of you have already seen it anyway.

Wilmington might be in the market for a new Head Football Coach soon:

http://www.journal-news.com/hamilton-sports/high-school-sports/lakota-east/three-finalists-for-lakota-east-football-vacancy-449071.html

wonder if they'll hire a MUC alum  ;)

I just watched the UWW-Linfield game.  I hope that Mount can at least use the trip to Virginia as a team-bonding experience.  There is no way that Mount will be able to exploit the UWW defense with play-action passes to the TE's like Linfield did or be able to pressure the UWW QB to throw off his back foot routinely like the Wildcats, not to mention that Troney guy looks a lot better this year.  at least we'll get some commercial time on ESPN2  ;D

Good points!  The exposure on the deuce between a hunting or fishing program and women's college air hockey or poker is probably worth the cost of fuel for one team bus to Salem.  Why even bother, those darn 'Hawks would probably crush us if we were at full health :-[

I remember in 2007 the Louisville-UAB college basketball game ran late on EPSN2....the game was a blow out from what I remember. Yet they didn't cut over to the Stagg Bowl until after that dumb b-ball game was officialy over  ::) 2 to 3 minutes into the game!!!

I remember that.  I believe it was actually Texas Tech, not Luaville.  If I remember correctly we got jobbed and had to watch the end because Bobby Knight was either tying or breaking the career wins record.  Regardless, we missed the beginning of the Stagg Bowl in order to see the General give an emotionless handshake to the other coach just before they cut to Salem.

Pat...maybe we can talk about it over a beer or water at the Stagg.  Or not, all good.......

Unfortunately, it's a business trip for me and I don't get a lot of time to socialize.

I have definitely changed how I post in the past few years, though. I don't spend nearly as much time on the boards and I don't tend to engage in a lot of banter. It's how I carve out a little more time to sleep and spend time with the wife and kids.

So yeah, if I debunked the concept that this is still somehow a Bob Berezowitz team, and I did it in just a few words, and that rubbed you the wrong way, sorry. I don't have time to hang out on the boards or engage in a lot of long conversations.

Leipold was definitely handed the keys to a damn good program. But this is his third year. Remember he has a new offensive coordinator, since the previous one left after not getting the job. Remember that the Stan Zweifel backers swore that recruiting would go in the crapper because Zweifel apparently recruited everyone. Yet, that didn't happen -- in fact, he took a pretty young team to the title game last year.

Like current sophomore running back Levell Coppage?

No, I was talking more about "The Program."  I know nothing about LL, other that what I have seen on ESPN2 and what I have read (newspaper articles and on here).  I am not naive to think that everything I have read is true (especially on the message boards) but would LL have been able to recruit Coppage if not for what Brez. had built?  No one will ever know.  LL has kept the UWW ship headed the right way and he did beat MUC, which Brez. wasn't able to do, so who knows.  I guess I am just more partial to how I have seen LK coach (duh, I am a MUC fan).

...but, in 20 some-odd years we might be saying the same of LL. A legacy has to start somewhere. Beating LK twice in a Stagg Bowl would be a good way to begin climbing to the summit of the X-Factor mount(ain).

Jury still out on LL.  Didn't really handle the Weight-Room-Gate Incident very well.  ;)

Also, I have a bit more respect for Brez. as he built what LL is actually getting current credit for.  LL came in as a hired gun (yes I know he is a WW alum) but everything was there for him when he arrived.

All your back-handed slaps aside, If UWW wins on sat, beating LK twice in Stagg Bowls will carry some importance.  Many Mount posters see UWW winning on saturday, some tongue-in-cheek, some not.

Just saying after 3 seasons LK HC'ing record was 23-8-1, our "hired gun" is 41-4 with 1 game remaining - that's a damn good start to a HC'ing career regardless who or what you followed. No slap at Brez because he did so much for UWW during his coaching career and more, but that's even better then the last 3 years of Brez's coaching career (28-5). BTW, in your view, is everyone who follows a retiring head coach a "hired gun?" If so, would that make LK a hired gun, too?!!  ;)

Back-handed slaps were in jest.  ;)  Someone on here was asking for more smack talk and that was my weak attempt.

Anyways, what I was trying to convey, not very clearly, is that overall I respect UWW, but more for what Brez. has done than LL.  Yes LL has a better record after 3 seasons, after being handed the keys to a Ferrari from Brez.  LK took what Wable gave him (more like a Mustang, successful at times, but not as flashy) and built it into what it is today.  I tend to agree that it appears like LL would bolt if offered a HC gig at another level if offered, but again, no one knows but him and maybe he is content to staying the Big Fish in the Small Pond.  After being the son of a college football coach, and moving every 3-4 years, I know the advantages/disadvantages at being at D1 programs.  I respect the heck out of what LK had done (built The Machine and kept his family stable), especially in a profession where most want to keep moving "UP" and have seen what that can do to a family.

I don't think I meant that it is still a Berezowitz team.  I was trying to say that it was "built" by Berez. and LL had kept it going.

Being a big fish in a small pond isn't always the greatest thing (i.e. weightroom-gate  ;) ) But, as a UWW follower, I haven't heard him say anything or do anything or read anything that makes me believe he would fly the coop in a heartbeat to greener pastures if the opportunity came up? He was already at UW-Madison and Nebraska and OC at a D2 before becoming HC at UWW. I guess if he had strong ambitions to a higher level, staying at UN-Omaha would have been the more logical choice in making that jump. However, if he decides to do that, there are other former Warhawks within the coaching fraternity to draw on...I hear Jagodzinski might be available.  ;)  :D

LK was instrumental as an assistant to Coach Wable during the early to mid-80's while the program was building, took a year off to settle in as AD, then took the reins when Coach Wable retired.  Mount Union made its first playoff appearance during LK's sabbatical and then again his first year as HC, losing to Augie, the eventual national champ both times.  It took LK several years to get the program back to the playoffs, then a couple more attempts to get past the second round.  Seven of LK's 21 career losses occurred in year's two and three of his regime.  Since rebuilding he has moved the program to a point where it more or less reloads every year.  LL took a program poised to perform at this level and has maintained, perhaps even continued to improve it.  Given his youth, and success, he will have opportunities.  Fortunately for him the choice will be his to make.

I don't know what happened to him down here in Tampa.  Hoping he had a good contract so he is getting paid to do nothing right now.
