ALERT FROM D3FOOTBALL.COM

Due to the inclement weather, kickoff for Stagg Bowl XXXVII is being moved to 4:03pm EST.

With about a foot of snow on the ground and the greatest remaining accumulations likely between now and 9:30am EST according to weather advisories available this morning, the NCAA Committee, ESPN and the City of Salem decided to allow for extra time for snow removal to ensure the safety of all involved.

The game will now air on ESPN Classic starting at 4:00pm EST.  Your D3football.com pregame show will now begin at 1:30pm EST.  Please go to the D3football.com front page for more information.

Hi Gang!

In my 50 years (34 of them driving in northeast Ohio), that is the WORST drive I have ever taken.  I decided to rent a mini-van so we weren't cramped, and than GOD I got a brand new, Dodge Caravan that had only 200 miles on it, and BRAND NEW TIRES.  The 6 hour drive took almost 11, and the only reason I made it into Salem/Roanoke was the fact that I knew a few back ways.  The pep rally at the team hotel was very sad, as hundreds and hundreds of Mount fans are either still out on the highways, or just turned back.

Fantastic about the game being moved back!  There was just no way they would be able to get the field ready, or for any/all fans to get there in time.  They are advising you just don't drive.

I know this might not be popular, and I know this was more of a "freak thing", but isn't it time we moved this thing somewhere else?  I know all abou the bid process, and these people down here treat everyone with great respect and friendliness, but come on!  This is just absolutely crazy!

Mt. Fan, Wesleydad, et al.......I told the boys we will get to the tailgate when we get there.  Probably around 1:30-2, depending on what is happening out there.  We are in the Main Stay Suites near the Valleyview mall up in Roanoke.  Skunk is basically out of his mind, so I don't know how I will be able to contain him for the next six or seven hours.  The meds aren't working well enough!   ;D

See you guys over there.......(the few who make it)

Skunk sidekick and other Raider eskimoes!
plans for tailgate are bumped to noon!!! We have found the missing George and he will be coming with us to the tailgate as well! Likewise we have Olinemom coming with us too and her famous brownies. The snow now has tapered within the last hour and so hopefully plow crews will be able to finally make ground on the 12-14 inches here in Salem! Thry are only calling for light snow the remainder of the day and light winds. Lets hope Rocco will now be able to air out and get this Walnut and Bronze for another great season. People laughed when i packed a snow shovel leaving home, now who's laughing! LOL i could sell those for now for $100 a pop!

Mount Fan!  You got all your trucks with plows on them?  Get out there man and get us a spot in the parking lot!   ;D

Soooo......Kehresma......you are feeling "comfortable"?   ;)

One of my main challenges will be keeping Skunk away from the margaritas until AT LEAST 11 or 12.  Any sooner and it will get ugly......

It's so nice we get to play this national championship game down here in the warm, wonderful SOUTH!   ::)

Any domed stadiums (other than the Colts' digs) in Indiana?  Chicago?

As we were stuck on the road yesterday (one of the many times) we decided the new venue should be in the ATL.  Many flights into the airport (even though I hate it), much warmer, and still within driving distance for most Midwest, East, South region teams.

Thoughts?

I wish i had brought a plow truck, beleive me! I have never seen so many plow trucks sitting idle here, got two in the parking lot that sat the whole night practically! I don't think these guys have done much snowplowing at all, guess we just grow used to it back our way! Guess they have a front end loader and one dump truck to clear the Stagg Bowl lot!!! i can't even imagine they will be able to get the lot anywhere near cleared!!!
Hey Skunk and skunks sidekcik i hope you brought those Margeritas, we will need them after yesterday and today, lol.

dale

I flew to Delaware for a meeting yesterday, then drove from DE to Salem.  Left DE at 4pm, arrived in Salem at 2:30am.  Lots of snow, but the worst part was dealing with the other cars.  We ended up getting off of 81 and driving the last 60 miles on back roads (rt 11).  More snow, but less traffic.

We had 2 other cars coming from OH to meet us.  The got caught on 81 about 10 miles short of Salem and were stuck there for over 8 hours.  They left Friday morning and finally arrived at 7am today.  It was nearly a 22 hour trip.

Love having the games here, but I'd vote for Charlotte or Nashville.

Mount and Coach K will dial up a victory - Mount 24  UWW 17.

I hope that fans from both teams have arrived safe. I wasn't able to make the trip to Salem this year I will really miss seeing all of the d3 posters and the Stone Station hospitality and Olinemom's World Famous Brownies. I will be cheering on the Purple Raiders from the Wing Warehouse this afternoon. I hope all have safe travels to and from the stadium today and safe travels home tomorrow.

GO PURPLE RAIDERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mtfan

Interstate 81, which is the main expressway coming into the north Salem/Roanokearea has over 100 tractor/trailers stranded and jackknifed and over 1,000 ppl in vehilces stranded currrently! Let's hope this mess is cleared in order to get home tomorrow! WHEW!!

Don't bet on Atlanta, the airport, or the Delta monopoly for anything  ::) Ms. Caves was slated in at 6:00 AM this morning from Johannesburg - direct flight diverted to San Juan, PR thirty minutes in, somewhere over Botswana.  Still sitting in PR, and now not due into ATL until 5:45 PM - maybe... >:(

The good folks in Salem made a successful bid to host the DIII championships and are terrific hosts.  They should not lose the gig because of something Mother Nature does.

This is the 17th year for the Stagg Bowl in Salem, does anyone remember how many times it has snowed for the game? I would think only a few times and the storm today is in so many parts of the east coast.

What SS said above. As a veteran Ohio/MN driver I can tell you this is a bad one. Add to it they do not have any real knowledge of how to handle this white stuff we had as much problem with the other drivers as we did with the snow.

As "assistant Skunk watcher" I can tell you I have been able to keep him off the ceiling so far but with this extra time till KO the "Skies the Limit" if you know what I mean. ;D

Local public service channel is having a field day...They are telling everyone the local MAll IS GOING TO BE OPEN. Hurrah for the merchants! The next sentence is telling everyone to stay off the roads because the conditions are so poor. ???
