The team bus must have been a Carnation Charter...
I think the coming season will be like many....Things will be tweaked and improved throughout the season, the cream will rise, and the playoffs will be the dividend...
A comment on the Stagg after a couple days reflection...From what I saw on TV...what great sportsmanship demonstrated by these teams.  this is the ultimate game and both teams had to fight adversity which brings out the true character and both teams were outstanding. That is the way champions should be.
I am sitting here wondering how many days til the W/J scrimmage....

I'm a little late to the party. I was greatly disappointed in two things Saturday, the Raiders losing and I was not able to see the game.( Don't get ESPN Classics on my cable)
From reading all the posts, it sounds like I missed a great game.
Congrats to WW for winning the Championship and Mount for a great season.

It seems that Mount is losing quite a few seniors that contributed toward the success of the program. In my mind the question is, do they re-build or re-load?

History says that Mount has competed in 13 of the last 16 Stagg Bowls with 10 Championships. That being said, I would have to say they just re-load. I'm sure there are plenty of players waiting for their shot.

reality check

Looking ahead to 2010 I sure wish ONU was playing MUC in week one of OAC action.  I have a lot of off-season research (ie. boredom) to do but I do know ONU has a lot coming back in 2010.  Everyone is back at RB in the running game (with the exception of some great linemen) and the passing game loses just one key guy in Ryan Fleming.  The Bears have a little more to replace on the defensive side of the ball but they should have 11 of their top 15 leading tacklers back in 2010 as well.  The LB corps probably has the most holes to fill.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

The Raiders first 3 games are away in 2010, Wisc. Oshkosh, John Carroll
and Wilmington. They will need these 3 to get ready for ONU. Thank goodness they play at home vs. ONU. Ya, I know ONU beat Mount at home
in 2005 21-14. No doubt it will be another good game.

Whoever asked.....Urbania had an emergency appendectomy right before the season which put him out for the year.

I have seen this kid play a few times.  I think he is goign to be the next stud RB for MUC.  If healthy I think it will be next year.

wesleydad

mt fans, it was good to hang with you guys and share the fun in the snow.  skunkssidekick, your horror story getting to the game matches mine getting home from the game.  6 hour trip took 11 hours, only went 70 miles in the first 5 hours.  good thing we had such a good time at the pregame and during the game and after the game.  the margaritas were great addition to the festivities.  we got to see a good game and from reading some posts, some unhappy mount fans.  i was stunned by how UWWW controlled both lines after watching the wesley game, did not think that was possible.  seems like these 2 teams are just better than the rest and eventhough some teams can keep it close at times there is definitely a gap from the top 2 to the next 4 or 5 and then another gap, to the rest of D3.  a trip to alliance is on the itinerary for next year, you guys will have to let me know which game at home will be the best to travel to, i know you play Cap at home, how about ohio northern?  have a great holiday season and we will be in touch come august again.

D O.C.

QuoteThey also had another undefeated JV team coming into 2008. For 2010
they will also have players from an undefeated JV team again and 5-6 starters returning. A strength of the program is PT for the back-ups who gain
that critical experience.

Major point.

Can't hurt to scrimmage someone you're going to play in the play-offs.

Must be looking forward to that reloading.

HURFMUC

Wesleydad for next year you want to  come watch the ONU vs Mount game.

Although the Raiders have only 4 home games in 2010, two of them will be against ONU and Capital. We will have a fair idea with Spring practice, who
from the 2-deep roster and JV who makes an impact.

Capital is probably going to take a little step back this coming year before being back up the year after.

You don't lose the linemen on both sides of the ball that they are going to lose and get better.

Having D'Andrea back is nice, but losing Marty Assmann hurts, as the 2008 season attests.  I don't know if Nick Alexander is going to be the starter his senior year after being the #2 for the last two seasons or if the kid from Ashland who they were so high on in JV time is going to get the nod.  Whoever it is will have a nice target to throw to in Matt White.

On D, there are significant holes in the defensive backfield as well.

Kicker returns, punter and snapper are both gone...

Any information on Cap's cross-town rival for 2010?

Returning 3/11 Defensive Starters
Returning 2/11 (3/11 if Shorts comes back) Offensive Starters a

Should be an interesting year.

It's pretty much a given Mount Union will reload, they always do. Losing Micheli and Kmic, and they make it to the Stagg.

But for those interested, as far as the Stagg Bowl Starters, UW-W returns:

7 starters on offense
6 starters on defense

Not sure what Linfield or Wesley has coming back.
