I am so sorry to hear and read about AJ Raebel. It's extremely difficult to have it at such a young age. I have dealt with cancer and my wife is a cancer nurse.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to AJ and his family. Despite the fears with the "C" word, there still have been many success stories and we certainly wish AJ the best.

My prayers go out to AJ as he battles this.    I'm way too familiar with the havoc cancer can cause on a family >:(

On the Pete Carroll topic, I think the MAIN reason he's jumping back into the NFL is the doom that is about to come.  He'll never admit it, nor will the USC faitful, but the timing is way too convenient for me to believe he's leaving Southern Cal simply for a "new challenge".   I hope beyond hope that the NCAA comes down hard on USC.  They've been flirting with the Devil for quite some time.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Thanks for all the support.  A very tough time in our family but he is an amazing young man with a huge heart and I don't see how he can lose with all the prayers, love, support and good karma being put out into the universe by everyone.  We must stay positive and believe that he will be fine.
Thanks again to everyone for all your care and concern,

With all the stories coming out about D1 athletes, guns, drugs, robberies ect, I am beginning to wonder if competing nationally on that level forces you to take these marginal kids and suffer the consequences if you want to be on top.  How many of these coaches at big time schools are making deals with the devil for success?
We all know that 98% of these kids can't afford the apartments they live in, the clothes that they wear, the Escalades that they drive, or the lifestyle that they lead, not even mentioning the graduation rates and whether of not half of these kids even go to class.
The basketball players that leave for the NBA supposedly don't even attend class the second semester, because they know that they are leaving and their eligible thru the NCAA tourney..what's wrong with this picture?
On a related note, a local city school just reported that the gpa for their 85 member football team was 3.6. Is this possible?

My middle school team this year had 46 players and 3 managers.  Our cumulative GPA was 3.02 for the 1st Quarter (during football).  Six had 4.00, 15 had 3.50 and higher, 26 had 3.00 and higher and 34 had 2.50 and higher.

Maybe that is why we were 0-7 this year though?  LOL

I agree with you guys.  Unfortunately, as good a coach as Carroll has been at USC, I don't believe for one second he is "squeeky clean".  Something sounds "fishy" in California/USC. ;D  I think the "hammer" may come down on them in the near future and if the alleged violations are true, I agree with you that I hope they are sanctioned very hard - they would deserve it.  No excuses. :(  The players (and coaches) know the rules - unfortunately, many times, they just don't care - their attitude is "it's all about me".

I have to think things like this go on more than most of us think at the D1 level. USC was enjoyable to watch, though.
