Got my offical notification that it will be the University of Mount Union. from MUC to UMU. It's OK, us geezers have a habit of continuing to call things what they were when we were younger like Lawson's  so I doubt I ever change
Sounds good to me.  When do we get our new diplomas? :D

What do they call Lawson's now?
Never underestimate the stimulation of eccentricity.

I should get to Alliance and buy the closeout college stuff. Still can't believe that this whole things is a marketing  effort. I have no more respect for Malone University than I did Malone College. Guess no foriegners will want to go to Kenyon now cause they think it's a trade school.  This whole thing equates to adults acting supidly. Couple of people on the Board of Trustees I never had a lot of respect for in the first place, just dropping a little farther down the scale, (like they care what I think). I think it sounds like they have too much money.

"University" vs "College"
The times they are a changing, as Bob Dylan and many others have mentioned.

On having too much money...
Is that possible?    :P

My neighbor and dear friend across the street is professor at Akron (school who spent in excess of 7 million dollar to change their name from Akron University to the University of Akron) The other night at dinner he would go off on the tirades about faculty salaries, and how the state promised the university money and how can they stall building all these new facilities and how they can't do this or that

I love him, but academics just don't get it.  They just think you raise fees and the money falls out of the sky. Alumni will always donate, companies will always support us, and government grants will pay for even the most stupid of requests. 20 percent of Ohioans are un or under-employed as Kent State leases a hotel in Switzerland. You remember these guys in school, so smart they couldn't find their way out of paper bag with map.

Got a lot to do with exactly how out of touch with the real world higher education is. My apolozies Theaprof since your not a real world disipline ;D So to speak

We welcomed kid #2 last night.  A baby girl- Elisabeth Antoinette Kovach was born at 9pm at U of Kentucky hospital.  She was 19.5 inches and 6 lbs, 13 oz.

Mom and baby are doing wonderfully!

Maybe she'll play some hoops for Dixie (or whoever takes over for her) some day?

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Even though I liked the name Mount Union University better, UMU sounds better than MUU. Of course, my preference would have retained MUC, but it is time to move on!

Any news on incoming recruits?
13 time Division III National Champions

Kira & Jaxon's Dad

As others have previously posted, I think they will probably go with the MTU acronym.

Everything I have seen in print from them recently just referrs to them as "Mount Union", without the "College".
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

reality check

Why on earth would they go with "MTU"?  When the school officially moves to University of Mount Union it only makes sense to go with "UMU".  Would it make sense to label Ohio State "USO" or "OUS"?  You're not Mount Triad University or Michigan Tech.  You're the University of Mount Union.  UMU.

JK

Congrats on the new one.  We've got number two due in March!
