i think PG's stats will be down in the SuperBowl, specifically because he has drawn the serious attention he deserves from the defensive coordinators.  This will draw more coverage and will open other receivers, so if his numbers are not like they have been, it will be because he has opened opportunities for others, like they did for him earlier.  That is the difficulty with the Colts..Wayne, Clark, Garcon, Collie, and others create just too many matchup problems....

BTW, a high school basktball game was late getting started last night on WHBC radio last night and they used as a filler a recent interview with LK about Mount, AFCA coaches position and Pierre...the best thing from the interview was the obvious enthusiasm voiced by LK about coaching new kids and looking forward to a few more years in the profession...
He was almost giddy (for LK) when discussing the process of recruiting and taking what you get and creating  something special...it as really great.  perhaps you can listen to it by going to their web site, I dont know, haven't triedd it, but it is a great five minute interview...

reality check

Considering the fact that Saints are averaging giving up over 400 yards of offense in the playoffs and #18 will be slinging the ball around for the Colts, I think Garcon has a chance to put up numbers even if the Saints try to lock him up early.  I'm thinking he ends up showing off some of his blocking skills on WR screens and some stretch plays early and he'll get a deep ball at some point to test the coverage.

I expect the game to be a shootout with tons of offense so he could end up the third leading receiver for Indy SB Sunday and still have 70+ yards.

My thoughts on some of the hoping for Garcon to have MVP consideration is that, based on how Peyton manages the game, finds the holes, and then exploits them, Manning is most likely to end up MVP.  Even if any receiver for the colts has a huge day (150+), it will most likely be credited to Manning figuring out the defense and the receiver was just the lucky one to be catching the ball.

Santonio Holmes of the Steelers won the MVP, but I am not sure how many catches he had. His TD catch was great and I think it was the key to Pittsburgh winning the Super Bowl. So it could be posible for any of the Colt's receivers to win the award depending on how the game goes. My bet would also be Peyton, but they have to win the game first!

I definitely understand your point...a well timed and crucial catch can make all the difference.  My thought is that the way Manning plays such a cerebral game, he'll be much more likely to get credit than Rothlisberger would.  But yes, first Indy has to win!

Hello all you OAC/MUC honks!   ;D

Jr. is growing again (thank god)....starts speed training next week.

Have I mentioned lately how much I HATE winter?   :-[

Headed to Vegas for a convention this coming week.  People are actually having me speak at a seminar.  What a bunch of misinformed people they are.....and I haven't even spoke yet.   ;)

Plus karma to RC and some others. It wasn't me cause I've been in bed for 3-4 days with the crud.

SS - I highly recommend speed training for kids in your and my son's age group. It's the best time to change any bad habits and teach them how easy most speed training is. Some peole are born fast but everybody can learn to be faster.

RaiderPa - When Larry stops looking ahead at the kids to come, at's over. It's so great to be watching talent 4 - 5 years out.  And as an AD he knows about talent in NEO in more than football. Ask him about the Mogadore Girls Basketball team.

Sorry about the whole racist thing, probably better to have kept my feeling to myself, but when have I ever done that?

Of course it was key to the Steelers winning.  They were losing with 35 seconds left in the SB.  If he doesn't get both toes down and the ball doesn't stick to his fingertips, Arizona's got their first ever SB rings and Jerheme Urban is a D-III guy with a SB ring.

He had 9 grabs for 131 yards and a game winning TD.  Big Ben only threw that 1 TD pass and Holmes had over half of Big Ben's passing yards.  He made an incredible catch to win the game.  That's why he got the MVP.

I'll be in Vegas in two weeks but I was originally going out there this week too.  Where are you speaking?  My HC and two other coaches are headed to the USA Coaches Clinic.  Among others we are listening to Willamette HC Mark Speckman .  Some other notables (for me anyways) are Kevin Johns (WR Coach @ Northwestern and All-American QB at UDayton when I was in high school just down the street), Randy Bates (NW LB Coach and former asst. at Musky) and Medal of Honor Recipient Paul Bucha.
