Guys don't bolt for no reason.  When alums are worried about the disconnect, then it's worth worrying about.  Where there's smoke, they're is fire.

Interesting we are talking about coaches because I just learned that our biggest rival here, about five miles down the road, just hired a new coach.  Arizona has an open enrollment set-up, meaning kids can go anywhere regardless of their living situation, and are only penalized if they transfer to a new school during the 9-12 years if they don't have a change of address.  8th grade students out here are literally free agents and there's lots of recruiting action.  We have 8th graders on our high school campus and there is little in place to ensure they actually enroll here as 9th graders.  So the coaches in your immediate vicinity are impactful to recruiting as well.

We now get to try to convince our kids to stay here instead of attending the rival high school that is head coached by former Buckeye, former pro quarterback and Super Bowl winner Joe Germaine.

Awesome.

That will be a real challenge for the other programs!

Easy... just remind them that you're from Ohio and Germaine choose to attend college at some school IN Ohio so he could learn whats been taugh to you all your life.

Do you have an opening for a recruiting coordinator?

Administration, Administration, Administration.

Both Collins and Bickle left for better opportunities but I think if they had any support from the new Administration neither one would of left.  Very frustrating times at CU!

RC - Welcome to the era of high school free agency.  In FL kids attend a high school based on the football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, or softball program more than any academic or career prep program.  Coaches have to sell their programs to parents and accommodate 16 year old pre-madonnas to hold their programs together.

ESPN (Bob Ley) did a great job on the Pierre Garcon segment with Pat Coleman and Coach Kehres. :)

Prima donna??  Just a question, but wouldn't Connie Francis be a "pre-madonna"??

We'll have state wide open-enrollment in Ohio next year. Thank God Mogadore has a storied football program, but it was nice only allowing kids from ajoining districts and employees kids. Little school districts are going to try to stay alive stealing kids from city districts. Hopefully it only a ploy to get levies passed.

First Post!

Anyone have any news on any recruits that slipped through the cracks on signing day?  It's got to be tough for the OAC now with all the new DII and NAIA schools popping up in Ohio.

Welcome to the boards Tim.  I think the reputation and chances for Championships will keep MUC at the top of the recruiting game vs. the new DII and NAIA schools.
