Dungy was just pointing out that the Garcon drop was such a momentum killer.  It would have been a first down for sure. probably a very long gainer and maybe a touchdown because it looked like he had an angle to get to the corner.  After that drop and the Indy punt,  I think Dungy pointed out that Indy didn't get the ball back for an extremely long time (Saints drive, long halftime, onside kick, another Saints drive, etc.).   But, all receivers drop passes and there are many plays in a game.  I don't think the Wayne drop at the end was as critical because the Colts would've still had to recover an onside kick and score another touchdown with very little time left.   The Saints best receiver (Gholston?) also had a big drop that stopped a drive in the first half.  For some reason, drops by receivers in critical situations are hard to forget.  I'm a Ravens fan and still remember a drop by Mark Clayton in September against the Patriots that would have given the Ravens a first and goal and completely changed (I believe) that game.  So, Garcon and Colts fans will probably be reminded of this (thanks to ESPN making one of the three big turning points) for a long time.  But, they have 6 or 7 months to get over it.

Since he's doing his part to finish his degree, Garcon has the chance to be not just the first MUC player to catch a TD pass but also the first UMU graduate to play in the league.   ;D

More importantly, I have been staying awake at night wondering what happens to MUCAW.....is it UMUAW, UMUCAW, MUUCAW, MUUAW??........oh, the pain.

Haven't you seen the new purple heifer: UMU

According to the official news release the name will go from MUCaw to MUcaw.   Seems like a pretty lame change to me.

OK, I only ask this because it's February....

1)  Explain the difference between MUCaw and MUcaw?  Doesn't the "C/c" stand for college?
2)  There was a press release for a parrot?

There was a news release to the faculty and staff about the transition to the new name--included in that was a section on school colors remaining the same, sports names still the Purple Raiders, when we will get new stationery, etc.  Included in that was a section on MUcaw.  I believe it is also on Mucaw's facebook page.  I thought I also saw it in something that went out to alumns.

For those of you who are really bored in this off season, here is the link to the college web site that discusses the aforementioned "changes":

Mount has something Texas, Alabama and Auburn don't have: An alumni with a SuperBowl TD.

Alumnus.

Actually upon further review: Pierre has a couple of classes left, so we're both wrong: student

No, he's still an alumnus. You don't have to be a graduate to be an alumnus, at least at most schools.

Seventies,

I thought you were opposed to the name change from MUC, why would you want a diploma that would say University of Mount Union vs. Mount Union College?

Although he (Dr. Ewing) did not have many board supporters, he helped and supported me on a major Mount Union College building project.

Should have been President Tracy. The worst mistake Mount Union ever made was overlooking her. BTW She is retiring as President of Alma in June. I just sent her a note congratulating her.

And yes, I still hate the name change, they just said they would consider issuing new diploma's on a case by case basis. I wanted to give them a couple thousand cases,

That is correct, Pat.  According to Webster's Dictionary (and others).  That being said, here is a question:  if a person is a former student of a school yet didn't graduate from there, but graduated from another school, would not that person be an alumnus (or alumna if a woman) of both?  The answer is yes according to the true definition of alumnus.  However, when most people refer to a person as an alumnus, they usually mean that in the sense of being a graduate of the school.  So to be truly (technically) correct, I suppose that when refering to a person from the school, we could make the distinction that one is an alumnus/alumna of a school but did not received their diploma i.e. didn't graduate, while others are graduate alumnus/alumnas of a school.  sorry for "beating a dead horse" on this, but just hought it would be a little fun to muse on this. ;D  Besides, it is the off-season! :D ;D ::)

It was reported in the media in Columbus today that Otterbein College will become Otterbein University.  Apparently the institution began as University, but change to College in 1915.

No more of The OC. I guess Oberlin, Wooster and Kenyon aren't afraid of European kids thinking they are a trade school. ;)
