I was just trying to be funny based on all this walk-on talk.  You guys are too easy.

I have no idea what they're expecting.  It's too early to know.  I'll get my alumni update later this year when they've got a better idea of who is coming to Ada.

That's fine (re: you trying to be funny) - nothing wrong with that.  I also admit that I inadvertently missed/overlooked your use of the "walk-on" term in your posting/sentence.  Nonetheless, I was not trying to be funny (nor easy ;)) but rather being serious.  What I posted is true and has happened.

I agree with you that it is most likely too early for many of the schools to know just how many prospective players (including returnees) will be committing to their rosters for this year, until they actually show up in August.  Yet, on the other hand, this is not the case for some of the schools as by the end of March, some do have a very good idea of who is really serious about committing/attending.  Anyway, for the most past as mentioned, we'll all have to wait until August as usual.

The Raiders will have at least 100 new freshman again this fall, no info yet on more top recruits!

I remember going up to ONU for a weekend recruiting visit and staying with a couple LB's.  The guy I roomed with was supposed to be my camp roommate when I came back in the fall.  I arrived for camp, was told he would be my roomie and after about three hours, they told me he wouldn't be coming back to school and that I'd be with another freshman.  This guy had spent all summer working out and right up until camp the coaches were expecting him and I guess he changed his mind last minute and didn't return to ONU for his junior year.  You just don't know until it happens.

Thinking back, I can't even remember who I roomed with now.  I remember who I was supposed to room with but have no idea who I actually shared a room with my first week of college camp.

Funny video breakdown involving Trinity (CT) squash team.  I normally don't like Merrill Hodge because he's dissed D-III before but this one made me laugh.

rc:

I know exactly what you mean.  Things do happen for one reason or another.  I can recall similar stories both when I was a player in college and when I coached also.  Some guys (and I'm not intending this to be negative or critical) ended up leaving because of homesickness, or they changed their minds about how committed they really were to playing football in college (i.e. some got scared and/or just didn't want to commit to that amount of time - which is understandable as they  wanted to concentrate on the academics which is the important aspect as we all know and agree), while some had some family issues and others just simply didn't want to play anymore.  What made it harder to understand, at least for me, is that a couple of them I knew were top notch players and starters.

When those situations occur it can be interesting yet confusing, especially at the time of camp opening.  Yet, people have to make their own decisions and do what is best for them in such situations.  Anyway, thanks for sharing your story - it is always great to share and discuss such memories.

You guys are making me recall the fabled story about Larry K and teammates driving to southern Ohio to Dom Capers house to talk him into coming back to school.

I'm sure that is a great story seventies!

I'm seriously starting to wonder who it is I keep offending to lose karma every day.  Is anyone else noticing their numbers dropping?

I'll give you two guesses and one of them doesn't count.  Probably relates to the UD story.

I don't think it's him.  He hasn't been online since 2/13 according to his profile.  And I don't think he has the power to karmalize or smite.

I don't even know if he's able to post since he chose to change his name and p-off Pat.  Since that one inflammatory post was deleted, his last post came in mid-December.

I didn't ask the question to get pity karma.  I wonder if Pat has the ability to check who is smiting and karmalizing.

God it's a slow day.

I believe he does.  He usually doesn't identify the snipers, but sometimes gives hints.

hrmmm...my karma's higher than I remember it being and I haven't been posting in a while.  Maybe I should keep my mouth shut more often.  I'm sure my students wouldn't mind!
