reality check

ONU's president, Dr. Kendall Baker, has announced that he will be retiring in July of 2011.  Dr. Baker has had a huge impact on ONU as an academic leader and as a proponent of the athletic program.  I came to campus in the summer/fall of 1999 which was when Dr. Baker began his tenure.  I got to know Dr. Freed a little on his way out but also get to see Dr. Barker from the start.

I know we have some time but ONU will be hard-pressed to find a better person to replace Dr. Baker in my opinion.  The campus has seen tremendous growth under his leadership from the Dicke College of Business to the new campus housing projects and Dial-Roberson Stadium.  He's been great to me and even surprised me when I was back on campus this fall for that game with the aforementioned Mr. Stickler.  Dr. Baker and Mrs. Baker didn't give the typical handshake and smile like they recognized me as a former student from earlier in the decade.  They asked me how I got here during football coaching season, how things were going in Arizona and how my old roommate was doing.  The Bakers know and love the young men and women of ONU.

I hope he gets to go out on a high note with some more OAC championships (a national championship wouldn't hurt either).  I doubt they'll be able to find someone that cares more and can do more pushups after touchdowns than Dr. Kendall Baker!

I don't think anyone could cast anything but praise on Dr Baker's tenure at ONU. If nothing else he over saw the end of War Memorial. Was amazed to note that Dr Freed is still active at Findlay. Freed was Mount's president during  my "first senior year." (Couldn't really take a joke as I recall)

I gotta say when I saw Wiregrass Ranch I thought we were still talking strip clubs and brothels. Sounds like something that would be 20 miles north of Vegas

RC,

Good luck to ONU as they find a new president.  Hope the Bears don't go the same route as the Crusaders.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Had an interview for a High School Head Coaching Job today.  I felt it went very well, but who knows what they are looking for.

Hopefully I am it!

Hey, if you think Ada is too big a town and you like hearing yourself breathe, Bascom Hopewell-Loudon is looking for a Head Coach. It's Nate Kmic's kinda town

Actually, H-L has had quite a bit of success in the past few years.....where did the head coach go? ('mo money, 'mo money?).  Remember, that you want to be "the guy who follows the guy who follows Woody".

Not sure, I get coaching postings in my email. They kicked the crap out of Mogadore two years in a row.

R68 Look at Tiffin on the map, then go up and left, Bascom. We who have coached small high school sports know these little bergs
