Most embarrassing small hs moment was showing up at Lake HS in Hartville for a cross country meet that was at Lake HS outside Toeldo

ONU's president, Dr. Kendall Baker, has announced that he will be retiring in July of 2011.  Dr. Baker has had a huge impact on ONU as an academic leader and as a proponent of the athletic program.  I came to campus in the summer/fall of 1999 which was when Dr. Baker began his tenure.  I got to know Dr. Freed a little on his way out but also get to see Dr. Barker from the start.

I know we have some time but ONU will be hard-pressed to find a better person to replace Dr. Baker in my opinion.  The campus has seen tremendous growth under his leadership from the Dicke College of Business to the new campus housing projects and Dial-Roberson Stadium.  He's been great to me and even surprised me when I was back on campus this fall for that game with the aforementioned Mr. Stickler.  Dr. Baker and Mrs. Baker didn't give the typical handshake and smile like they recognized me as a former student from earlier in the decade.  They asked me how I got here during football coaching season, how things were going in Arizona and how my old roommate was doing.  The Bakers know and love the young men and women of ONU.

I hope he gets to go out on a high note with some more OAC championships (a national championship wouldn't hurt either).  I doubt they'll be able to find someone that cares more and can do more pushups after touchdowns than Dr. Kendall Baker!

Seemed like a real football fan --- hopefully, as hscoach says, they find someone who wants to support the sports programs like he did.

Jesse Wells headed to be Head Coach at Meadowbrook High School. Nobody talking back to him.

PS Meadowbrook is in beautiful suburban Byesville which you've driven past if you ever went south on I77

Had an interview for a High School Head Coaching Job today.  I felt it went very well, but who knows what they are looking for.

Hopefully I am it!

I guess I wasn't it.  I just got the call that I wasn't one of the 3 finalists for the job.

I got the job I wanted when I was 54. "Kissed a lot of toads" along the way

With all the lay offs in education, I may get it back next year 8-)  Pro bono

Main drawback was my lack of High School experience.  I may try to get a HS Assistant Job next year instead of the Middle School Head Job I currently have.

Good idea.....become a position coach, then coordinator.  That's a better career path than middle school to high school.  As a retired AD/Principal/Superintendent, I wanted that experience with the high school level (attitudes, abilities, etc.)  Good Luck!

Remember Ohio State great Ted Ginn Jr?  People in Miami are already trying to forget him it seems.  They're calling him another Dolphins Draft bust.
Purple Raider fans won't be able to avoid comparing him to another former Ohio college football receiver whose name also starts with "G" who had a better year in the NFL.

Congrat's to Rocco and Petro for setting up the North's winning TD. Rocco MVP in what was the normal All-Star shoving match. Didn't see first half, but it was cold and very windy and perfect football weather in Upper A.
