Remember Ohio State great Ted Ginn Jr?  People in Miami are already trying to forget him it seems.  They're calling him another Dolphins Draft bust.
Purple Raider fans won't be able to avoid comparing him to another former Ohio college football receiver whose name also starts with "G" who had a better year in the NFL.

Wait I thought Anthony Gonzalez was hurt most of this year.

I always thought Ginn was a bit overrated ,but maybe he will find himself
with the 49's.

I always thought it was my intense dislike of Tedd Ginn Sr that distorted my appraisal of Jr

My 9-12 year old flag footballers turned my world upside down by winning a game yesterday.  I can say after four weeks of practice and two weeks of games, I now understand why it's so hard to get people to coach youth sports.  The high school teams I'm used to coaching are nothing compared to the drama, over-coaching and sensitivity of the other coaches and parents of these kids is insane.  I went out Saturday in a pair of shorts and a tshirt Saturday morning not realizing that I was going up against Coach Ken Whisenhunt (at least I think he thought he was KW).  I watched the opposing coach in the game before mine pull the rule book out on the other coach and the official four times.

THREE MORE WEEKS.

Your experience coaching youth sports mirrors mine.  I appreciate the efforts some of these guys put in to coaching, but it seems they completely miss the purpose of these programs. Too many youth coaches don't know the fundamentals of the game, haven't played themselves, and most of their knowledge is based on video games or watching the NFL.  They teach their kids little technique and even less sportsmanship.  Keep teaching your kids the game and to respect it and their opponents and they will be better prepared for the next level than the kids coached by the KW wannabe.

What separates Ginn from PG is desire.  Ginn came from a high profile football factory as a 1st round pick with little worries about making the team or being given an opportunity.  Nobody besides Garcon and those who knew him well expected much from him as a 6th round pick from relatively nowhere on the NFL radar screen.  Garcon knew he would have to prove himself every day just to earn a chance to prove himself.  If Ginn has the desire to prove his abilities he still might make it in the league.

In high school and college I umped little league baseball. During a tournament, my friend and I reffed a game and one of the teams was from our high school rivals' city.....we did our best to hand the other team the game by making awful calls on purpose. We threw out 3 parents and the other team still wasn't good enough to win a fixed little league game. I only now feel the shame after typing this out.......

hey we start will a basic Mogadore play book and at C league hope they can run two different looks and the variations from that set. Learn how to block, learn how block. Learn to go on the snap counter. And we coaches learn how to deflect the advice coming at us cfrom the parents who haven't watched a practice,  "Yes, we will run that next if the kids get five minutes to learn it"" Learned year not throw my coaches shirt into the stands. Never got it back. I guess thats how you get fired when you work for free and report to no one.

It's also why teaching middle school is so much fun. (sic)

So many players have great abilities, but many who try to make it in the NFL lack what Pierre has shown, the desire to accomplish major goals. His strong dedication and work ethic made it possible. Time will tell whether he can sustain that drive in the coming years, but I like his chances. Ginn has an opportunity to get his work ethic and attitude together in a new setting.

Congrat's to Rocco and Petro for setting up the North's winning TD. Rocco MVP in what was the normal All-Star shoving match. Didn't see first half, but it was cold and very windy and perfect football weather in Upper A.

Wonder what Pro scouts were at the game? Maybe Kurt will get a look? :)

snoop dawg

good luck with the surgery...the recovery is tough.

Is Alliance closer to Pgh or Clev?   Being from Pgh, the thought of landing in Clev runs contra to the black and gold in my blood. ;)  However, the shorter the time I have to drive the better.
