The competition at the QB position is really heating up now and Mount has the California QB coming to meet with the coaches next weekend!

4.0 GPA and a 30 on his ACT.  Looks like we may have another Micheli coming to UMU.

I thought he had several D1 and D2 schools that were very high on him! He will need to add a few pounds Greg Micheli. Greg is 6' 3" and 202 and had a 3.8+ GPA . Not only a great athlete, but a fine young man. Maybe Ryan can do the same!

If it's the guy I think it is, I interviewed him for a Presidential Scholarship at Mount--that was what Micheli had as well.

Yup, that's him.  Small school just north of Tennessee.

Small but slow posted:

"Claussen needs to mature and learn to let the game come to him.  The draft seems to be more of a high stakes crap shoot even with all the scouting and information available.  The college game and NFL are two totally different styles of games."

SBS......I can assure you Clausen has the football IQ to play in the NFL.   He and my son worked together at the Steve Clarkson Air 7 QB camp for three or four years.  He definitely has a gun and the brains.  I hear a lot about him having a bad attitude and while that may be true, all the time I was around him he worked really hard.  Cocky?  Yes, but don't QB's have to be just a bit to win the confidence of their teammates?  All the hype about him when he came out of high school was not manufactured by him but his dad and Clarkson.  He is the equivalent of a Todd Marinavich in that he was raised to be a QB.  I personally think he will be a very good NFL QB.

Raider68,  we will get to Alliance around 8 on Friday night.  I will call you, hope to be able to buy  you a beer.

Greg was listed as a Freshman as 6'3" and 185.

This kid is still 18 or so and still has time to put on "Good Weight"!

I just like the fact that he was being looked at by other "bigger" schools and CHOSE to come to MUC.

I'm waiting for a non-MUC'er to say, "sounds like a backdoor athletic scholarship."  :o

I'm sure they don't just let any faculty member do these interviews.....I can imagine they're pretty interesting.

reality check

I don't suspect anything funny as a non Mount poster.

In fact, what you guys do at Mount Union with your backdoor is entirely your own business.  Leave all of the rest of us out of it.

Snoop - I concur that Claussen has the talent to be a successful starting NFL QB.  Another year at ND may have improved his draft status, but not necessarily with BK's system.  Claussen showed a lot against Stanford, he and Tate kept them in that game for four quarters.  If ND was going to run a pro offense this upcoming season he could have stayed and possibly been the top pick.  The panthers will bring him along and give him a good offensive line, good running game, and Steve Smith to throw to.  I didn't question his talent, intelligence or desire.

Hey, Browns, Clarret s/b be ready to play by Fall ;)

SBS........I wasn't being critical of your post, just making an observation and giving an opinion.

I agree with you about staying another year at ND if the offense was right for him.  Jimmy is actually almost 24.  In high school he was a year behind my son yet almost two years older.  He was held back two years, as were both his brothers, thus my Marinavich comment.  So maturity should not be a factor for him.

I am really anxious to see Mount Union next week.  Hope we get some good weather.

snoop, I agree with you about Clausen.  I watched him play every ND game & his NFL showcase at ND.   I think he's going to be a fine NFL QB.  Carolina was very lucky to get him at 48th pick.  The media got it wrong about Jimmy.  He has a great attitude and his players respect him.  Golden Tate made that clear when he had the chance.
Not sure about the following omens, however:
Clausen is up against a former Oregon State QB (Matt Moore) like fellow Domer Quinn was with Browns (Derek Anderson).
Carolina's field runs east-west like the Browns field, not north-south like most football fields.
