A lot of people don't know this fun fact about Rocky Colavito.  He changed his name to Pente-something.  Penterelli.  Pentevillo... Pentello.  That's it.  Pentello.  I think he played quarterback a few years ago for somebody around here.

Manuel W:

I can understand where you are coming from.  However, with all due respect and, seriously, I think Rock was just adding that as a disclaimer because it is a known fact that many times in the past, other posters have unfortunately made somewhat (shall we say disdainful) comments about other people posting non-football topics for discussion, even in the off-season.

While I agree wholeheartedly with Pat's rules about keeping non-sports related purely political commentary/opinion off here, certainly opinions relating to sports (even if about fan attititudes) IMO are acceptable.  Obviously, and I think you agree, everyone is entitled to their opinion - Rock was expressing his and, appropriately commenting about what other people have "complained" or sniped at others about and he did it without using any foul or inappropriate language.  I've made the same disclaimer in the past when confronted about posting off-season topics whether about other sports, sports in general, or non-sports related DIII issue as opposed to confining it (i.e. off-season topics) specifically to DIII football issues only, just for that same reason.  Just my opinion - thanks for listening. :)

That is what I was trying to say, I think.  Regular posters on here are fine with a little off-season banter and I thought his disclaimer was not needed by a frequent poster on this board, and also a bit "Snarky" as my wife calls it.  Especially since the OAC isn't necessarily his "Home Board" since he is a TMC grad.  He does provide LOTS of productive material to the OAC board as well, and just thought it was a bit boisterous, borderline arrogant, to post it.

I think we are both on the same page here.  However, I would respectfully disagree with you that I don't think it was inappropriate nor borderline arrogant for him to post that disclaimer here, or for that matter, on any board, including my/our own MIAA board.  For sure, there have been way more borderline arrogant (heck, let's just be honest here and say truly arrogant) postings here by some in past years on the OAC board as well as all the other boards.  I also suspect that Rock posted his comment because he thought that some people (not all) who are supposed Cleveland fans would indeed be "ticked off" that he even brought up the subject (but in that regard, I think everyone would agree that "the truth is what it is" if everyone is, in fact, truthful with themselves).  So, personally, I don't think it was "Snarky"at all (to use your wife's term - which I think is a great term BTW :) kudos to her!), for we all know there have been far worse posted on these boards and meant in a truly more vindictive way.

Again, just my thoughts on this and...I'll refrain from further comments so as to not tick anyone off here ;D ;).  I think we've all mae our opinions on this clear! :) (or, can we say - using that old cliche - "...have beaten a dead horse enough?!" ::) - where is that image when you need it i.e. that one of our colleagues here used showing that guy beating a dead horse several hundred posts back?  ??? ::) ;D ;)  Okay, I'm out of here for the weekend.  My apologies all!

and even the two, lone winning seasons of the fabulous Fenn Foxes in that era?  ;)  This age thing is way overrated, remembering obscurity but not recalling lunch two hours ago...  :D

RC, well done on the Rocky connection.  I definitely wish for the daily "Rocky's old" posts.   Ahh, those were the days.

Vincent Van Jr?

And the crowd cheers.  Go Van Go.  Go Vincent Van...Gogh!!!

And his mom's last name is really Brown-Van?  My parents taught me to stay away from those because of the lurkers offering free candy inside of them.

Some good names in that group.  The ONU faithful will be jealous of that kicker: the Reighle Beighle.

So don't worry, HSC. Believe me, he'll be back.

It's taking every bit of strength I can muster to take the high road on this.  I had an Asian student a few years ago named Phuc Hwod.  After resisting that temptation daily for a semester I learned muchabout my self discipline . . . on certain matters anyhow.
