The MUC/UMU brouhaha seems to have run its course.  Time to pour on some gas! :o ;D

"A university is what a college becomes when the faculty loses interest in students." - John Ciardi

I'll be especially interested in The AProf's response! :D

[Full disclosure - I spent most of my career teaching at a university.  I was intensely interested in my students - especially the girls (I kid, I kid! ;D)]

Finally got to a place where I could reply to this.--The faculty had no say in this decision-we were not even given the opportunity to offer our collective opinion through a straw poll.

As far as I am concerned it is nothing more than a marketing ploy to try to make us look better to international students.  I don't know how many of the faculty are excited about the change, but I do know that a lot of us are not thrilled.

It also seems like a weird economic time to be spending many, many $$ rebranding the school, printing all new stationery, new signage, etc.

Ah, but I digress--as a faculty member I drink the purple Kool-Aid and, of course, support the institution in its efforts to "improve".

Life's too short to get my panties all in a wad over this.
Reloading--Again, and again, and again....

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter, for what its worth.  Given the institution's track record the past few years its difficult to question any decisions regarding growth and expansion.  Can't see much changing but the name.  I believe the philosophy is that if the school's not moving forward its moving backward.  Sometimes change isn't bad.

Sorry to interrupt the lovefest with some football news for JK, but a it appears Marty Assman is back on campus taking graduate classes and should be suiting up this fall.

Also figure on even less news coming out of Capital as the current SID has resigned.

And no, you can't have Lenny back ;D

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

i wouldnt be so quick to anoint Seaman as the starting QB for the next three years

Good point, but who is returning that has the edge other than Seaman? I thought the QB from Calfornia would have had a good shot, but he accepted a D-1AA scholarship!

The Cali kid also wasn't sure he could win the job and therefore wouldn't have been at MUC even if W Carolina hadn't thrown a scholly at him.

On the QB battle, Seaman obviously has a leg up because of playing experience from last year, but all that guaranteed him was the first snap of spring ball.  IMHO, what determines who will be the next QB is the work that is occurring right now.  The work BEFORE fall camp will be the difference.

From the SCIAC board, here is the story on the Cali kid.

wc, coco, Sabertooth and RFB

It has been great talking to you guys, I wish i would have started out differently the third time but...oh well.  Good luck with the new baby wc.
Will he come back a fourth time?  Will he call himself Catamount Dawg?  Oh well!

Gone but not forgotten. ::)

I was marveling at the board discipline here - two days went by before anyone reacted to the announcement.  Presumably this indicates that his son decided to go D2?
1-AA

I think he only has one year left if he goes 1-AA.

does it seem to anyone else that Mount is getting more California kids than any other year?  I remember a QB that came in a couple of years back, but transferred out, and a big deal was made of his committment.
