hscoach, I think he's coming in planning to play defensive back.  They list him as 5'10" 175lb.

Goodbye WR, hello nose tackle.

Kevin ran a 5.5 40, quick nose tackle for 5'6" 13 year old

PS Sidekick, his favorite memory was having CSIII on his dodge ball team

I have confirmation from two separate sources that Marty Assmann will indeed be back at QB for the Crusaders in the fall.

That changes things...  There will be a lot of talent back at the skill positions now.  If they can fill the holes left by graduation on the line, the offense should be pretty good.

That is good news for Cap, now they will see how competitive they are in a tough early season test, Wesley!

In addition to Marty coming back, there are quite a few others on the 2010 roster who were listed as Seniors on the 2009 roster but who got an extra year of eligibility.

Notably:
Ronnie Smith- CB
Jake Nickle- DL
Matt Heagan- MLB
Kyle Koblinski- OL

JK,

With Cap's 52 incoming freshman and JCU's nearly 50, The Raiders need to catch up!!!! ;)

Also a QB from Massillon Washington, Jonathan Litman.  How'd we get a kid from Jason Hall's program??

probably because Massillon's starting QB is headed to Miami U.  I would hope that Hall wouldnt be funneling back-ups to his alma mater...i think the Litman kid will likely be coming in as a DB

Some quick notes on the Capital roster and its implications for the upcoming year:

Of the 22 who started on O and D in the first game last year, they return 6 on offense and 6 on defense.  Notably, Ronnie Smith was injured and did not start that game, so that really means 7 starters back from the would be line-up from game 1.  However, 3 of the 5 on offense were OL (C and both Tackles) and both DTs are also gone.

game 2 starters: 7 Offense and 6 defense back
game 3: 6 and 6 back
game 4: 6 and 7 back
game 5: 6 and 7 back
game 6: 7 and 7 back
game 7: 6 and 7 back
game 8: 5 and 7 back
game 9: 6 and 7 back
game 10: 3 and 7 back

There was some shuffling with the WR's from game to game that affected the number of starters and of course injuries, but there aren't nearly the holes to fill as I expected.  Koblinski back on the OL and Heagan back at MLB will be huge along with Marty and Ronnie Smith also back, which really helps the DBs.  Smith did a great job on CSIII last season and was All-American at the end of the year.

Basically, Cap needs to fill 3 OL spots and a couple of WR slots on Offense and 2 DT and 2 DB positions on Defense.  There are a lot of guys who got playing time last season who should be able to fill those starting roles this year, one would hope.

Seventies - Jr. was just a smidgen faster (he BETTER be as a freshman RB), and as I said earlier I am amazed at the speed increase he has had.  ;D   He still has to improve his start, but things are looking good.

I did get a chance to ask LK about the kid from Kentucky (QB who was the high school heisman there), and I just got a "we are still working on it" response.  He then said what many have said on this board....."until he shows up for practice, you just never know".

It will be interesting to see how the Mount QB battle shapes up. Seaman did get some playing time last year and Piloto has a great spring this year, If you add the Kentucky QB in , then it will be interesting given 2 are sophomores. We will see! :)

68.... If history is any indication, both will play until and unless one separates himself from the other, as Kurt Rocco did in the Capital game last year.  It will be interesting to see what LK does.  One thing is for sure, LK will make  much better quarterbacks out of them by the middle of the year and  really good quarterbacks out of them by the end of the year.  A quarterback capable of championship performance will start the playoffs.

As long as it isn't the second quarter of the Stagg Bowl. I'm getting too old for that (ala Jorris, Micheli)
