Man, I get caught up at work and can't check the board for awhile and we get a dude from Iowa defending Wilmington??

Welcome to the board, my man.  What line of work are you in?  Obviously its sales of some sort...

on the Wilmington situation, you can't fault Wulf for looking at Lakota job.. it probably pays 25% more as they are the top 3 in school district size in the state.  A certain Thomas More coach entered his name into the hat @ Massillon a few years ago... and what I took from that is the same as I took from Wulf's interviewing: when some jobs open up, you have to put your name in the mix.

Didn't buy the same car as 70s father-in-law but I did get an older German car.. the thing is a beauty.

Peace and chicken grease, or until I can check in again...

Despite the fact that they were 1-8th graders, got to watch a view footballs fly at Mogadore Youth Camp tonight. Mostly drills and drills and drills. My eighth grader is finally looking like a football player.

Does all this Wilmington bashing make you all feel better?  It really sounds pathetic and embarrasing.  I guess maturity was not a graduation requirement at the almighty Mount Union or Ohio Northern.  I do realize the vast majority of Mount Union graduates are good people and the football coach shows a lot of class; however, the few old farts that post on this board who live vicariously through the football team are really getting a little tiresome.
I respectfully disagree with everything you said except the part about "old farts."  I can't argue with that one!  :P

I'm sure there are many fine people at Wilmington College and in town.  That's not the point.  The point is it's usually a wasted game for a good football team.

Native Ohioan George Steinbrenner died today.  Love him or hate him there was one thing you had to respect.  The man never stopped trying as hard as he could to win.  I hope Wilmington hires a football coach who can instill winning and a winning attitude.  I hope also that they'll support that coach in his efforts.

When Wilma first joined the conference they were cocky and confident.  Their fans, and there were two or three posting here, were certain they were going to show the OAC what real football was about!

I kinda miss those guys.

Congrats to Cecil Shorts, Kyle Miller and Sam Kershaw in being named to the D-3 Preseason All-American team! :)

Pierre Garcon is ranked as the 70th player available in ESPN fantasy football.  That puts him ahead of Santana Moss, Steve Breaston, Braylon Edwards and TJ Whosyourdaddy.

ESPN's projecting a little less than 1000 yards on 54 catches for 5 TD's.  I hope he lives up to those projections.

HScoach,

In your opinion, could Kyle Miller TE at 6'6 260 and good hands get a look by the NFL? IMHO I think he could if he has a great year, not sure about his speed and blocking ability! Your thoughts?

Oh and I forgot to mention that Pierre got a shout out when I spoke to the team at the close of our workout last night.  We are installing split back veer and I was telling our receivers that if they don't block, they don't play not matter how good their hands are.  I relayed the fact that Pierre Garcon came from little Mount Union College (way back before it blew up to university status) and he caught the eye of so many scouts in part because of his athleticism and speed but most impressive was his blocking ability at the WR spot.

If anyone gets the periodic sale flyer from FINISH LINE, there is a nice article about Pierre in the recent mailing. Probably could pick one up in local store.

Four years ago I go my first coaching gig.  I just showed up at the school after seeing a position posted online at Tempe High School and had an impromptu meeting with the head coach.  That evening I was at practice and everything rolled from there.  We've both moved on to new schools but I am forever grateful for the opportunity I was given to coach.  I am fortunate that Coach Rodriguez gave me a shot without any previous coaching experience.  He's a great coach/man/mentor.

Tonight, I will be attending the viewing for his wife who passed on after battling cancer for a many years.  She was in her early 40's and leaves behind one daughter and of course, Coach Rod.

I told my players last night that I would be missing a practice (which is highly uncharacteristic of me) and explained that football is a great game but what you learn and appreciate from football goes far beyond the green grass and white lines.  The bonds created with teammates, coaches and family grow forever.  Family, faith and football is what we preach.  Football extends your family and can strengthen or test your faith.

Say a prayer for Coach Rod and his family for me.
