Congrats to former WB and Mount Union player Todd Muckleroy for becoming Canfield's new basketball coach. The schools who had to face his Streetsboro teams are breathing a sigh of releif.

75-cent: Buy a sense of humor-Wasn't sure anybody would read the article if I didn't spice it up a bit.

Todd was my HS teammate.  Not as athletic as some of his classmates like Connon Thompson, Scott Loudon, or Dustin Keck, but always gave 100% effort.  A very good HS wide receiver and PF on the basketball team.  His knees were always bad and that really prevented him from playing much at MUC after he tore one up in his Fr. year.

Would be nice if he came back to West Branch and helped rebuild what used to be a pretty decent basketball program.

Just got back from 3 weeks in Europe, if you were wondering where I've been.

As many of you know, I am back to teaching ROTC, now at Northern Kentucky University, a part of the Xavier University ROTC unit.  Just got word that we lost one of our former Cadets, a 2008 grad.  He was killed in Iraq last week.

I post because many of you are vets and I know you care.  Please remember we still have many Soldiers in harms way.

JK,

Best wishes on your assignment and that you are posting again.

As a Navy vet, I  am saddened to hear of the loss of life of our servicemen abroad. Prayers and thoughts to all those affected families!

OK, this week's "You gotta be kidding me" news story:
BW QB to play in Europe

Good for Andy.  Sounds like an opportunity that will certainly broaden his perspective.  Nothing wrong with a little all expenses paid world travel.

God bless all those in uniform.  It's because of them that I get to worry about football.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

HSCoach - Minerva's QB is the real deal.  That kid can wing the football.

Sidekick:  Thanks for the info on the QB.  Yeagley has the program headed in the right direction.  Couldn't have hoped for a better person to lead them back.  Good kid from a good home.

And on the "wow, am I getting old" front, I was nearing the end of coaching run when Brett was a crazy, undersized LB that you couldn't get off the practice field.   Where did all the years go?

JK... I'm living in Fort Wright, KY now... and working from the house.  If you ever want to do lunch, let me know.  BTW --- Dee said "so you've never met Jon Kovach before "in person"??"  I told her no, but also explained how we roll on here.

As memory serves, Witt had an All-OAC DT on the '75 Stagg Bowl team that pushed the scale at 180# by the end of that season.  My how times change.....

He is also friends with Cecil Shorts III. So we know this Moses kid is smart, befriending the #1 guy!

Have to think this will be a great 3-way battle. My early guess is Seaman will be the early odd man out with Piloto (sp?) and Moses taking the battle well into week 6 or 7.

I think Seaman played D is HS. Wouldn't be surprised to see him make the switch if he gets eliminated early.

OK, dry run "home opener", Mount JV vs Waynesburg on Sept 4th at 1:00 in THE stadium. Dust off those purple seat cushions, blankets and Carhartts (It's Ohio, could be shorts, could be parka's. S/B able to try sitting in some different seats for a change.

I have one of my track kids playing DB for Waynesburg this year

I don't recall Seaman playing D (Mathie did).  I'm still thinking the kid is the frontrunner at QB.  First off, you don't expend as much effort recruiting him as LK did without giving him every opportunity to develop.  Second, while I'm impressed with Moses' highlight video there is a big difference between small school KY HS football and DII HS football here.  Seaman was the DII offensive POY in Ohio.  He took his team to the state title game.  And LK thought enough of him to throw him into a QB battle as a freshman.  IMHO that doesn't sound like the resume of a kid headed for DB this fall.  Just my 2 cents.

I guess the only thing we know for sure is that LK will play the best kid no matter what.  He always does.

seventiesraider

I think it's way to early to be throwing play makers like Seaman under the bus. Couldn't they red shirt him for a year with a bad case of the "crud".

Or we could send him to Cleveland to pick up a staph infection to put him on the DL and redshirt list

You may be correct, but I'd argue that Coach Kehres will not want to be deciding who is the guy until week 6 or 7 of the season. I do agree that if it is from 8-18-10 (start of camp), then you probably are correct! :)
