QuoteHopefully you've learned your lesson.  Much cheaper to say "I don't" before than "I quit" after.

I did... but being that I was 25 years old at the time, it was one Andy Feltersnatch was destined to make on his own.

Well done, RC!

The only socially-acceptable applications for jorts is the following:

--Any NASCAR Event

--Country-Concert held in Fort Loramie, Ohio during July

I did leave out an important sidenote regarding jorts.  That rule applies to men only.  If you see a woman wearing jean shorts, it is perfectly acceptable and in fact encouraged to ask her to participate in whatever activity you're involved with as long as the length of her jorts is shorter than the distance from your own outstretched thumb to pinky.  (Using this measuring system in close proximity to the jorts being tested is also recommended.)

Don't forget the "maximum size amendment" to the jean short rule.  Just because they make it in her size doesn't mean she should be wearing it.

I'm pissed.  I told you at the time that I'd only agree to play if no one found out that I came out of retirement.  You're dead to me.

Ok, so I was drunk, which one were you??? The ra-TARD or the jorts guy (nice, RC)

I won't say, but will offer the following true softball story for reference:

In college and for a few years thereafter, I used to play in a couple softball leagues.   I could hit the snot out of the ball, could field decent, but had no idea where the ball was going when I really uncorked it.  Which was the same problem as a kid playing Hot Stove BB.  Hence my usual position in the outfield or at 2nd base as last resort.

Anyway, we were about halfway thru a church rec league game when our 3rd baseman pulled his hammy and left the game.  We didn't have any subs so we were going play with 1 less outfielder and I was tabbed as the guy to play 3rd since I was the new guy on the team and no one else wanted to.  After much arguing about how they really, REALLY don't want to put me there, I agreed with the disclaimer of "I warned you".

My first inning goes great because no one hit one to 3rd.  Second inning at third starts with routine ground ball to 3rd by last batter in lineup (old, fat guy) that gave me plenty of time make a soft (and accurate) throw to 1st.  So I'm feeling pretty good and the shortstop is giving me the "see, I knew you'd be fine" talk.

2nd batter singles to center field.  Next batter hits a nice shot up the 3rd base line that I backhand, spin and fire a dart to 2nd base to get the lead runner.  Problem was my throw sliced about 10' right of the base and drilled the base runner square in the side of the head.  Dropping him like he was shot.

Not surprisingly, but my career as a 3rd baseman was over before he could even stumble the entire way off the field.  Been a right fielder ever since.......

Hmmm, I'm not sure what to predict at TB.   Wouldn't be surprised to see Panchik be the opening day starter due to experience, but for one of the sophomores to be the primary ball carrier by mid-season.  I just don't have any idea which one.

I know the Urbania kid was the one with the great pedigree coming out of HS, but that doesn't always mean much at the college level.  Panchik is a tough kid that really wants to be the man, but he had average ability BEFORE all the knee injuries and he hasn't been healthy in 2+ years.  There a handful of guys that will get a change to show what they can do this fall.

Only thing I'm comfortable in predicting is that Wes Ryder will be the FB.

I agree with Ryder and think Panchik will get early season carries, but believe that Lemmon who has the size and speed will take over, Thanks! :)

We're so starved for football in Mogadore we were in the press watching practice last night, on the field the other side of the visitors stands. It was reminiscent for some of those early D3 telecasts when the light poles were still in the way

Our SS was a all-Atlantic 10 SS at University of Dayton (not quite sure if was given scholly for football though :) )... and he fielded one, in a late game one night and threw to 1B (had an absolute cannon).. it was like watching a train wreck... kid got hit in the head... took two more steps and fell over sideways... then couldn't get up or walk.  Pretty funny because the guy was talking chit all game before that.  Pretty sure he drinks through a straw now.

HScoach... thats funny... I can kinda picture that too... you do look like a 3B at least.

reality check

History has already set the precedent here.  Mount needs to find a first-team all-OAC RB if they want title number 11.

The only years they have not had a first-team RB: 2009, 2004, 2003

Those years are pretty significant as teams not named Mount Union won the national title in each season.

Brent Donley and Colton Coy return in 2010 as incumbent first-teamers and Dom D'Andrea returns after being just the second ever 1000 yard rusher at CAP.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

Agree, that is why I asked the experts. It will take a Mount 1000 yard rusher to keep the offense in balance, with great receivers and a question as to who will be throwing the ball. +k RC :)

And I for one am totally happy with all these questions remaining unanswered until sometime in mid-October.

Bingo.  The QB and fancy receivers get all the press, but Mount hasn't won a title solely on the arm of a QB since 1997.  The last decade plus has been about the winning the line of scrimmage and controlling the game with the running game.  Then picking your spots in the passing game.

For the record, the Mount running game this fall will be much better than it was in 03 and 04.  I still can't believe we didn't have better RB's than Strauch and Ciccone.  And I'm somewhat confident that we'll be better than last year too.  Morring was a tough SOB, but had no knees left.   Even without Panchik, Lemmon and Harris both are much more explosive than Morring was.

The question offensively for '10 is the same as '09.  What are we going to have at QB?  Plus factoring in the huge holes along the D-line and this should be a lot more competitive OAC schedule than we're used to.  Makes me glad both ONU and Capital are coming to Alliance this year.

All my favorite moments (save the Garcon toe drag TD in his first Stagg) have been running plays: Larry Kinnard swinging open the barn door for Chuck Moore to run the length of the field, Kmic's 90+ yarder out of nothing and Pugh slugging it out in his last Stagg. It's why I always stand in the end zone, for the thrill of watching those plays develop. Here's hoping that some of these running backs have developed since December.

Upon further review, my favorite play was Mr Unlikely Hero, Rodney Chenos putting away the Johnnies
