Plus, his 40 time is bound to increase wearing an ankle bracelet. ::)

While the nat'l title quips deserve to be lambasted, I'd just as soon stop the ex-con jokes with that one...

I heard that Dominic was accepted and was considering playing at four Ohio colleges this fall. He had a couple mentors growing up that had been OC grads that thought it would be the best fit for him to get his degree.

I disagree.  There's a ton of good material in this.

After reading the article, I think a "cell phone ban" would be appropriate too.  Those things are a big distraction to your studies as well as being a safety hazard when traveling back and forth to your bible study meetings.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Sounds like a good player for OTT, but one player will not now mean that Ott is going to the playoffs. The Raiders have had a few D1 players in the past, but it takes the entire team and program to get there. We will see how the season unfolds, but Ott will have their share of challenges in the OAC with or without a D1 player or two! :-\

reality check

I think it also should be mentioned that position means a lot for how an individual impacts a program.  If we were talking about a former starting RB or QB ala Brett Elliot, then one player has the ability to elevate a program to national championship caliber.  I know Jones was quite a return man in addition to being a very good defensive back but I don't think he can have a big enough impact at KR/Safety to turn a good program into a playoff program by himself.  He may touch the ball 5-7 times a game if he's lucky?!?
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)

MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

I have a feeling he'll be getting a ton of touches. I mean, if you had that kind of athlete wouldn't you make sure he did?

EDIT: A quick google turns up that Jones played receiver in HS and ran a 4.28 at Ohio State's camp. He's probably lost a few ticks off that, but still. That's fast.

PurpleSuit

is it jut me, or is it every off-season that we hear about all the transfers that OC is supposedly bringing in and how they will challenge MUC, err UMU, for the OAC title?  the national championship mention for OC doesnt even deserve commentary, imo

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've heard that, actually.

No one has won the OAC except Mount Union since 1994. No one really believes anyone really has a chance to beat Mount Union. That is 15 years. No one has a chance - with or without one guy.

Ohio Northern has the POY in the conference at QB. The best RB in the conference. Do they have a chance this year? Even if the game is in Alliance.

ONU did beat the Raiders at home 21-14 in 2005. First loss to an OAC opponent in several years. Could they do it again this year, yeah. The have talent and a great coach in Coach Paul. Regarding player of the year, Cecil Shorts may have something to say about that this fall!

There are many factors to consider prior to Oct. 2nd for both schools. Some of those have already been discussed in recent posts. RC, who is an ONU alum is the most knowledgeable on the Polar Bears and he will provide details as we move closer to the season's opener and that Oct. 2nd meeting between ONU and Mount. :)

Not true. This year, especially.

Every year I think ONU has a chance.  They seldom take advantage of that "chance."  They are my favorite (next to Mount) team in the OAC.  I hope they go 9-1 and make the playoffs.  Otterbein University, who are they?
