I'll admit the Wesley game WAS in the back of my mind when I decided not to brave the blizzard and try to get to Salem.

Of course I'm 62 and most everything is the back of my mind

The Wesley/Mount game last year was not as close as the early score indicated and HScoach is correct. The Mount defense was great and once the offense got it together without an injured Kurt Rocco, the Raiders pulled away.

Wesley returns several starters from last year including their QB. We will see how they do against Capital in Columbus. That game will tell considerably about both teams and it should be competitive. :)

Don't know about ALL Wesley fans, I only met three. I for one miss the cocky JCU shirts from during the Tom Arth years when they had a legit chance of winning, ie Muck Fount and Mount This.

What I don't miss; with all apologies to Erik Raeburn and wife, are Wabash fans

Really?  Cuz, I gotta say, the Little Giant's crowd that showed up to the Perk for the play-offs in 07 was terrific.  They rolled in with large numbers and one of the most impressive tailgates we have ever seen and we hung with some really great fans.  They were a little overly excited about their chances until half time but overall, friendly, enthusiastic and a lot of fun.  Unfortunately, we played the game in a blizzard and they had to all drive home in it after a monkey stomping......  ;) ;D

Erik may have calmed them down. they were obnoxious when they were at Mount

Maybe the Spinix club was on downers that day

We discourage our cheerleaders from getting drunk before the game

There are several OAC posters that have been absent, are they waiting for the season to start and/or just having a busy summer?  :-\

From Todays Cleveland Plain Dealer:

Ask of Joe Tait what he plans to do after he retires following this BB season:

"I love Mount Union. I plan to do their football games, and I'll do some basketball games. I have taught there in the past, but I'm not sure about that just yet. I love their Saturday afternoon football games in that old stadium."

School starts tomorrow in AZ and we are slowly getting there.  The kids got to hit for real yesterday in a controlled scrimmage and thank goodness my offense won the goal-line  battle 3 out of 5 plays.

If anyone cares, we're slowly getting the veer in place and I have to admit that it was a little fun when the defensive coaches got all bent out of shape because the option pitch was forward once on a twenty plus yard gain (but still behind the line of scrimmage and thus totally legal).  I didn't get to frustrate many coaches last year so I'll take what I can get!

We play the first ever varsity game at Combs High School in nineteen days.
OAC Champs: 1942 (one title ties us with Ohio State)
OAC Runners-Up: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2004, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1982, 1941 (Stupid Mount Union!)
MOL Champs: 1952, 1950

RC:  good luck this fall.  And please keep the veer updates coming.  I'm one of the few left that appreciates what the veer offense can do in HS ball.
