I was just reading the rule changes again and remembered some of what the officials wanted to stress at Media Day. As a traditional kinda guy, I was happy to hear that the OAC will enforce both a pregame neutral zone between the 45's and a no taunting rule concerning if you break away from the defenders and turn and hold out the ball taunting the other team. Given that you lose the score, I'm sure Larry, and the other coaches, will pound this in.

The bad news is that Otterbien may have lost the best part of their game  :D ;) 8-)

ONU has had some really good teams, so it may be a bit early to say this is already the best, since the season has not even started as yet! ???

I don't know if this is the greatest ONU team ever.  You have to look at the entire OAC outlook and that's one reason ONU is getting a little more hype.  This is one of the few times in the last two decades where ONU comes in with very few questions while many positions are still up for grabs in Raiderland.  And with coaching changes and some questions at other OAC contenders, things might just line up right.

There is reason for optimism and excitement but ONU has a long road to navigate that also happens to run through Alliance.

How did otterbein lose best part of their game

75 bucks

He was talking about two years ago when Mount visited OTT. The Otterbein guys went to their own 50 yardline when they took the field prior to kickoff and looked to the mount sideline and hollered and challenged them. Some of the  Mount guys ran out to midfield and a little stare down took place. I never understood why the OTT guys have taken so much grief on here though. It was the Mount guys that left their sidelines and met the OTT guys at midfield. I remember it clearly. OTT was not smart challenging them- but the Mount guys met them at midfield.

their own 50 yardline

Their what??

The point being that the OAC is going to crack down on the taunting and chest pounding and the 10 yards between the 45's will be a "no fly zone". (The term used by the Chief of Officials) Pre-game demonstrations were frowned on by the NCAA under Sportsmanship, but not previously enforced.

No news as to whether we have a TO Sharpie rule yet.

Having watched the video, what is referred to as "looking and hollering" was plainly taunting.  There was a lot of posturing for a team that then lost the ball on the opening kickoff and was down 7 three plays into the game (not to mention giving up scores on Mount's first five possessions.  It was also puzzling in the video why the most animated guys in red were those not dressed out.  Yes Mount left its sideline but the Cardinals clearly crossed midfield and were looking to stir the pot.

Not smart to poke the sleeping giant with a stick when that's all you got in your bag of tricks.

I agree the OTT guys looked bad- I thought the MTU guys were equally as bad leaving their sideline and charging to the midfield logo just before kickoff to escalate things.

You definately don't want to stir that pot.

And that it made Coach Kehres furious was not good either.

My guess is that the OTT players were trying to show the Mount players they were't intimidated by them. Which probably means they were. If a team is not intimidated, they will just show up and play.

If it's true that Mount players came on the field and confronted the OTT players, Coach Kehres was probably more upset with his players than OTT players. But either way, not a wise move by the OTT players involved.

He was indeed mad at his own players, point being, you (if your a player) don't want your coach mad before you even take the field

That reminds me....not sure if this was already posted, but there was a nice article in the Rep a couple days ago about Trusnik.  It was actually on the front page of the sports section above the fold.  Apologies if this was already posted...
