This would be more "D-3 players coaching in the pros," but fun nonetheless:

http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/1389

Turns out the Chiefs were having a little fun with one of their offensive assistant coaches. They convinced Nick Sirianni, a former wide receiver in college [Mt Union], that they would need him as a quarterback in practice.

So they found a yellow quarterback's practice jersey in their equipment stash and Sirianni dressed for practice, pads, jersey, helmet and all.

Of course, the Chiefs never practiced but went to the movies instead.

''Once we figured out what we were doing this morning, we had a good practical joke and figured it was a also the time for that.'' coach Todd Haley said. ''Somehow, we convinced him that he was actually going to be in practice and somehow, he actually believed us and he actually put the uniform on. But we did not have a practice so I figured it would be the day to have a little fun.''

Looks like UW-Oshkosh got a huge upgrade on the defense in the offseason. This could make the game a little more interesting

one would have to wonder what kind of game shape that Westphal kid is in for the opener with Mount after taking basically two years off.

I am sure he will be fine, the won't be the Mount but Westphal will do well. He was recruited D1 for a reason. They do not miss very often with the players the get scholarships. They may not be a star but they usually belong there.

Pat-Got any suggestions about how to get rid of this quiz? We've messed around with it so much it won't let me delete it.

Mount is not the opener for Oshkosh.  They play Central (IA) the week prior.

With Mount having so many holes to fill and Oshkosh already having played, the way too early line is UW-Oshkosh (+14.5)
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

HScoach,

Agree, are you working on the other games for the Picks week 1 as yet?

Hallalujah, and praise touchdown jesus!   ;D

Jr.'s x-rays showed the bone is healed (oh the healing powers of youth), and he was cleared for full contact.  He ended up getting his first hits of the year in by the end of practice today.  Now if he stays healthy, it will be a big year for him.

As much as last year was a mystery, this year's Mount team is even more so.  It's exciting in a "what nobody is going to be the STAR" this year kind of way.

This kid should make it more interesting.  I know coach Kehres won't underestimate these guys.  Anything can happen, but I'll give them hscoach's points and take Mount.

Hey, fools - HScoach didn't COMMIT to +14.5.  By tipping your hats so early, he's gonna make the spread much more nasty! ::)

If you catch 'a break', don't throw it away! ;)
