Stupid penalty pushed back a field goal that was wide right on ONU's last possession.

River Falls RB Taylor Edwards has 121 yards and two scores on 15 carries.

Hel-lo football season!

raiderpa

some notes on Raider scrimmage...
Shorts DNP  Kershaw DNP  Panchik DNP
none appeared hurt, just don't need to see them in action is my guess...Shorts did look good in 7 on 7

Offensive line looked spotty on run blocking. good in pass protection

Defensive line looked pretty good overall...new kid #94  big and looked very good...Budzinski dominated his man

QB's looked good in 7 on 7, but Seaman definitely looked better in full go scrimmage.  Pilotto had some happy feet and the beautiful tight spirals thrown in 7 on 7, weren't so pretty in live go...Seaman throws like the old Tim Tebow,,from the hip and three quarters motion but was very effective. Not much scrambling..The Raider stretch play that they like to run did not look very good, and running backs were spotty highlighted by Lemon and a new kid #25,did not get name, but he tore up the rookie/JV scrimmage..Jv Qb looked decent and solid, not eyepopping..

Tight end is a beast, Budzinski looked very good and Jake Laforce back from injury played well at LB...Return game looked very good although no contact allowed on receivers, kicker back from injury has big leg, but needs to elevate xp's

DB's are aggressive, but gave up more than I thought they would, and pass rush was good...Mathie is punting and appeared very solid

Mounts second and third units were superior as you may expect, but the first offense has some work on run blocking, but passing attack looks ready to go, even without SHorts making appearance on field...Claycomb DNP, rumor is perhaps gone for season...that is a big hit...

Defense is fast as usual, but DB's gave up more than I expected...when the qb from WJ had time he found receivers
One pick returned for TD by Jordan, I think

We did break a few receivers loose for big plays, but overall I felt the offense was inconsistent and the Defense had a lot of room for improvement.  This team does not, in my very very unprofessional opinion, have the dominant character of many Raider teams...
But it is early, and I am not a coach/scout...

raiderpa,

Thanks for the great update. It looks the Raiders have some areas to work on, but then again they did last year at this time! I wonder about the running game as well!  +k :)

Thanks for the info.  At this point, the only true "difference maker" that we know about is Cecil Shorts.  The rest of the team looks solid, but not great.  Reminds me of 2004.    Hopefully there are some youngsters in the wings that come mid-season have grown into studs.  IMHO, a solid team + Cecil isn't making it to Salem VA.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

I hope Claycomb is OK.  But I guess if there's one place they have some depth it's probably with pass catchers.  Shorts and Miller are great.  I think Jasper Collins showed a lot of promise last year too.  And Mathie seems like he could settle in as that sure handed guy that is valuable in tight games.  And both of the those guys saw varsity time last year as freshmen which helps a little too.

I'm very interested to see what pans out at RB.  Is there any way Panchik is ever going to be 100%?  Can Lemmon be the main guy if needed?  What will they get from our favorite mystery man Anthony Urbania?  And what about TJ Lattimore?  If he's the same RB I'm thinking of from Maple Heights then I'm curious to see him too because that kid was a player.

reality check

ONU'S up 35-21 right now early in the 4th.  Offense sounds like it's clicking.  Defense is giving up a lot though.

Claycomb: from as reliable a source as you'll get, you should see him when the Raiders get to home games. Depends on AJ, his  doctor and it wouldn't hurt to include him in your prayers. I'm sure the Rev Claycomb would appreciate that. (:>) Six weeks will change a lot hopefully.

As I well know, your body recovers from surgery when it's ready, not you. You and your physical therapist can only do so much.

Off to see the Flamin' Pile get wiped up by the Scotties.

BTW Ra-Pa- Was Collins out there last night?

Final score:

ONU 35
River Falls 21

Which doesn't cover the 20.5 point spread.  And makes 71% of the participants start the season 0-1.   ;D

A.J. Claycomb will be a fifth year senior next year. He will not return this year 99.9% sure.

Just how did Wooster get so awful. The only way they can gain a yard is a BW penalty. Two first downs in the first half, finally got positive yards. Down by 31 to the Pile. I'm already in the car and ready to head home.

Aw, COW broke the skunk. Can you imagine what Wabash is going to do to these guys

38-14 the Pile rolled.  Wooster must be BAAAAAD.  The BW defense bottled up their running game all night.

I seldom leave a game at halftime that I had to pay to get in, but.................wait for it......................they both sucked.

Do you suppose that Coach Paul expected River Falls to hand the ball to the same kid every other play?

Howdy Gang!

Proud papa is reporting in.  Jr. is getting SCARY good!  125 yards rushing..that would have been 175 but he had a 50 yard TD called back for....(wait for it)....illegal motion that was called after he already had broken free.  Louisville officials should have been embarassed. Jr. had another 7-8 tackles on defense.   Hoover freshman 2-0.

Now back to your regular OAC programming.   ;D

ONU wins...good.  Messed up my pics.....BAD.  B-W rolls COW?  Wow....COW must be really down.
